just writing.

i have a best friend and she is amazing.
she would think it was really weird that i'd write about her on here, but she definitely doesn't have an lj.
she doesn't even have a facebook.

i guess that starts to say something about her.
she's not an internet addict; she doesn't spend much time on the computer at all.
which is interesting, because her mom majored in computer science and works at Bethel.
actually, so does her dad.
so if she wanted to stay around here for college she'd be totally set.
her dad teaches religious studies.
and her whole family is VERY Christian.
never misses a week of church.
wednesday night stuff.
you know, the whole deal.
she conforms somewhat to the stereotype in that she's pretty conservative/right-wing.
but she's smart.
really smart.
even when she procrastinates and does two weeks' worth of calc bc assignments the night before, she gets a's on all her tests.
but then again she studies really hard.
which is why she gets better scores than me. =]

bri's super quiet, too, a definite introvert.
she hardly ever talks in school.
her favorite form of communication is this half-smile that can be interpreted to mean absolutely anything.
we tease her about it all the time.

let's see... i think i remember how i met her.
it would have been freshman year.
i had to ride the bus home a lot, and it was always super crowded.
plus i didn't have many [any?] friends who rode the same bus.
but there was this one girl who i recognized as being in a lot of the same classes, and she never talked to anyone she sat with, so i assumed she must be new.
after a couple days of being shy, i finally got ahold of my nervousness and just dropped down next to her and smiled.
i seem to recall that my first sentence was something of the lines of "i feel really dumb, but what's your name again?"
briana, she replied.
but that didn't last a month.
before she knew it, she was simply bri.
but getting back to the bus.
i spent that day doing nothing but asking question after question, trying to get her to talk.
stuff about her, about her family, about her past.
just making up random things.
and so passed the next day, and the next...
it took a lot of days until we could have actual conversations.
i ended up telling her a lot of stuff about me, too.
and then i brought her places.
any time i was getting together with my friends, i'd be all "hey can i bring bri?"
and they, being nice, friendly people, would be like "sure!"
and i would drag her with me.
even if she wasn't entirely sold on it.
so sometimes i'd just have to bully her into doing stuff. =]
not entirely the nicest thing, but it was completely out of love.
now her friends are my friends.
we study together, watch movies together, drive together...
but for some reason we've never had a sleepover.
just not those kind of girls, i guess.

she is so pretty.
in an absolutely unusual way.
her hair is unbelievably wavy, in these tiny little small kinks, and she just cut it short.
it's like nobody else's and i LOVE it.
she dresses modestly, too- shops kohl's like a fiend.
but she has a pair of onestars from target, so at least i'm getting to her [with my two beloved pairs of chucks].
and some adidas track-style shoes, too, so she matches with my kangaroos. =]
she sometimes wears these awesome scarves that she got in spain.
i gotta admit i've stolen that idea and worn a couple of mine, too.
sometimes wears glasses and sometimes wears contacts.
she has the cutest face:
small, heart-shaped, pointed chin and very straight, little, pointed nose.
i love her nose.
gorgeous brown eyes, too.

she likes christian music, quilting and cooking.
bri bakes the most DELICIOUS things.
we all beg her to make food for parties/birthdays/et cetera.
for my 16th bday she made an entire castle out of cake.
it was AMAZING.
sometimes she lets me help her, too-
i pick randomcrazydifferent things to make and then we do, and i don't screw up either like i do when i try to make something.
it's gotta be her influence.

she's so different at home, too.
so bubbly and talkative and funny!!
she has three sisters, and she's the second-to-the-top and the oldest at home, now!
i like her family.
last summer each girl got to bring a friend to wisconsin dells with them and bri brought me.
sooooo much fun.
her family likes me too, since i get bri out of the house.
except some of the things i expose her to they're more iffy about:
boys.
dancing.
parties. [even as [relatively] tame parties as my friends have.] [twister! heehee.]
but i help her with school, too, and she helps me.
it's total reciprocity.

bri's changed a lot since she started hanging with me.
she's got a ton of friends, she talks to WAY more people [well, considering she started at only one or two, it's a huge improvement], and it's to the point where i get a little jealous of her when cute boys tease her.
but then i realize i'm just happy for her and a little proud.
because people need to notice how cute she is, dammit!
so that i'm not the only one in love with this girl.

hey bri-
love you.
just in case you ever find this. =]
