Summary: Kame made a promise; now he's going to have to keep it.
From a distance, the deep gray of the sky above the abandoned wasteland could be mistaken for an incoming storm or smog billowed from the factories of a major city. In reality, they were flies, clouds of flies that swarmed in the air, descending on bloated carcasses, feeding in frenzied black clumps on the rotted flesh. The figures of the injured lay on the ground silently, dotted with seething lumps of white that crawled on their bodies in mindless migration, too much in pain to even scream as the writhing maggots wriggled through every crevice and ate them alive from the inside.
How ironic, he thought, amused by the grisly sight before him. The hunters have instead become the hunted. A soft groan caught his attention; a delighted smirk tugged at the corner of his lips when he realized who it was.
A man was slumped in a pool of red liquid, face contorted and shoulders heaving from his quick, shallow breathing. His hands were clenched around his stomach, trying to staunch the flood of blood gushing from a horrific wound in his belly.
Kamenashi...Kazuya.
He watched the way Kame's hand twitched, a sign that he had heard. He moved slightly, deliberately crunching the leaves under his boots, and chuckled as Kame shifted away from the noise.
He crouched and stroked Kame's cheek, tenderly brushing dyed auburn hair away from pale cheekbones. Gaining no reaction, he pouted and rose, when a bony hand clamped around his wrist, dragging him back down.
How could you do this, the unspoken question hung in the air. In response he smiled sweetly, relishing in the way Kame flinched at the sight of his fangs. "You..."
He only grinned wider, pressing down on the injured man's ribs. Kame let out a shriek of agony that was abruptly cut off with a choked gurgle. Blood bubbled at the corner of his mouth from the racking coughs that shook his thin frame.
He yanked the smaller man forward and crushed their lips together, lapping up the remainder of the coppery liquid. "Kame," he breathed. "You taste so good, you don't realize how it's hard it is to keep from draining you dry."
"Wh-what happened to my companions?"
He started laughing, a harsh, bitter sound. "They're dead, all dead. Their faces were priceless; filled with terror as I tore out their insides and feasted on their blood. You should've seen it," his face darkened. "But you weren't there, I couldn't find you no matter how hard I looked."
Kame watched him sadly. "What happened to you?"
"What happened to me?" He let out a strangled sob. "You said you'd be with me forever. But you lied. You disappeared. Why?" His eyes were fogged with forgotten memories, hurt and betrayal evident in the chocolate brown orbs. "Wasn't I a good boy? I just didn’t want you to leave me," he murmured. “I didn’t want you to leave me…”
"I had to. The hunters-"
"They took you away from me," he muttered. "But I showed them. I killed every last one of those filthy bastards. Now Kazu-chan can stay with me forever." He giggled insanely, hugging Kame tightly to his chest.
"I can't."
"What are you saying?" he tittered nervously. "Of course you can, they're dead, remember? You don't have to go with them anymore!"
"Jin," he said gently. "If I stay, you'll be in danger, so-"
"No!" Jin snarled. "I want Kazu-chan to stay!" He lunged forward and wrapped his fingers around Kame's neck. "I know," a sick smile twisted his features. "If I kill you too, you won't leave, you won't leave, you'd be too dead to leave."
"J-jin," Kame croaked, reaching out his hand. He gasped for breath, fixing the crazed man with a dull stare.
"Stop it," Jin pleaded. "Don't look at me like that!" He drew him up and crushed his mouth against the slender neck, tearing his teeth violently into the jugular, sucking the remaining life from him in long gulps until it overflowed and spilled down his chin.
"I hate you," Kame said. Then he shuddered, light rapidly fading from his bright eyes. "And I love you," he moaned softly.
Jin sank back into the mud. His veins were on fire, throbbing, screaming as the sweet blood of the hunter flowed through them.
Jin laughed so hard he nearly cried.
"I love you," he whispered, cradling the lifeless form in his lap. And the laughter turned to sobs, hysterical wrenching sobs as tears of crimson rolled down his cheeks, dripping onto his stained shirt.
"I love you too."

A/N: This was kinda, okay, really short, and the ending was a bit rushed, but I sorta lost my inspiration halfway through, so...sorry! *ducks a flying brick* It was my first attempt at horror, and I think I failed miserably at it, and...okay, I'll shut up now.
