Oh that's my bad - sorry: the one place I didn't talk about this was LJ!
About a week ago I found out I have breast cancer - first and most importantly, my prognosis is excellent :) I go in for a lumpectomy next week, then a few rounds of chemo and rad onc. I am taking two months off of work but should be back in the end of September once I start chemo.
NOT a journey I want to be taking, but here we are. I know I have a fantastic team of doctors and providers caring for me! The bonus of working for Kaiser in my case is that I work with a lot of the senior leaders. I happen to know that the COO of the hospital I am being cared for at, and the Area Manager plus the chief doc are already alerted...plus if I ever have questions or issues I only have to pick up the phone to get to swarms of other docs, etc. I appreciate the offered help, but I doubt I need it - the breast care center has been awesome so far.
So that's the scoop. My sister and i are calling this my 'cancercation' (she is making t-shirts) and I dyed my hair purple because A) when will I ever have so much time off in my professional career again and B) if I get a cocktail that makes it all fall out, hey, no harm no foul!
I'm glad the prognosis is so good and you're so positive about it. I'm sure all will be well soon and in the mean time, as you say, you have Peter Capaldi to keep you going. :)
Thanks :) Keeping positive is key: I'm storing it for days when I do feel like crap. This week was awesome with both Peter Capaldi AND *finally* getting to Remus' biography on Pottermore. It's all about priorities!
Glad to hear the prognosis is good! Sorry you have to go through all this, but sounds like you are coping well and have good support. Don't hesitate to give me a shout if I can do anything to help!!
