What Do You Have To Say? - Music: My First Favorite Band
The Red Hot Chili Peppers for sho! I was barely out of kindergarten when I first heard them on the radio. It was instant love, I can’t remember being so enamored with a whole band before. I remember thinking the vocalist, Anthony, has the most amazing chords, Jeezus! He’s a siren! And Flea’s bass playing was just so stunning! I even played air guitar with John (when I was certain no one was looking). But Chad, he made me want to be a drummer (until I realized I didn’t have the coordination). But I still I remember how I thought; I’d give my left arm to just to be him for a show. It wasn’t till I was oh seven or eight till I actually saw them, I can’t remember if it was on Nick News with Linda Ellerbee. Or it could have been on MTV, which could’ve been. I snuck a lot of glimpses of MTV into my childhood (much to my mother’s dismay). I’ve been listening to them almost my whole life and I sincerely hope they can be there for my kids too. Hear that guys? You gotta play till you kick the bucket! ; )
