The graduation ceremony was fairly subdued by Greendale standards. The Human Being, clad in the traditional cap and gown, tripped over his robes and knocked over the podium, yanking wires to the microphone out of the amplifier in the process and creating a horrible screeching sound. And Jeff expertly dodged an unwanted hug from Dean Pelton as he was awarded his diploma (although he did manage to sneak in an ab touch), he also nearly had to pry it from Dean Pelton’s grip.
After it was all over the now famous Greendale Seven sat around their study table in their usual spots. Only this time they were wearing caps and gowns and instead of books there were diplomas in front of them. None of them said a word until Troy broke the silence. “So what now?”
They all turned and looked at Jeff. He put hit palms flat on the table on either side of his diploma. “I, umm, I’m not sure. Abed, how do we wrap this up?”
“Well, considering our pilot episode ended on the steps of the library for purely symmetrical reasons our time at Greendale should end there. But from an emotional standpoint it would be more poignant for us and the audience if it happened here in the study room where we spent so much time. I suggest a classic Winger speech to bring us home.”
Jeff took a deep breath and nodded, “No pressure there.”
Annie reached across the table and put her hand on his forearm. He looked over at her and she gave him a reassuring smile.
Jeff stared at her for a moment as he gathered his thoughts then stood up. “We all came to Greendale for different reasons, looking for an easy ride, no place else to go, boredom, fear, trying to get their life back on track, whatever the reason, we all had one thing in common. None of us had ever really fit in anywhere with people who accepted us unconditionally for who we are. Sure, some of us might have thought we fit in in our old lives but the truth is we didn’t, not really. But here, with this group we’ve somehow cobbled together, each one of us can be who we really are without the fear of being rejected. Four years ago the only thing I expected to get out of this experience was an undergrad degree and in truth that was all I wanted. I didn’t want to get close to anyone here or learn any lessons or better myself. But I’ve found the best friends I’ve ever had in my life, I found love,” he said with a glance towards Annie who was beaming back at him, “I found out that the things I had never believed in actually exist and that I wanted them. So even though it hasn’t always been easy and we’ve had our fair share of ups and downs, I wouldn’t trade these past four years for anything. I wouldn’t trade any of you.”
Troy let out a sob and shoved his fist to his mouth, “That was beautiful man!”
Pierce attempted to discretely wipe a tear away, “Gay.”
“Oh, Jeffrey, we love you, too,” Shirley cooed.
Britta gave his arm a light punch, “Way to go jerk, you made us all cry.”
Even Abed looked affected as he did the finger gun in Jeff’s direction, “Nice.”
Jeff looked over to Annie again for her reaction. Her eyes were wet with tears and as soon as her gaze found his she leapt out of her chair and into his arms. “Come here, guys,” She motioned to the rest of them with her arm.
Everyone else immediately left their seats for their last group hug in the study room. Jeff was sandwiched between Annie and Shirley when he suddenly felt another hand on his back. He craned his head back and saw that Dean Pelton had snuck into the room and joined the group hug. Jeff rolled his eyes just as Shirley noticed him.
“Oh, get in here Dean, come on!” She ushered him into the group.
“Oh my, well if you insist!” Dean Pelton squeezed himself between Jeff and Shirley and pressed himself into Jeff’s side and slid his arm around his waist. “Mmm Jeffrey, every part of you is well defined isn’t it?”
Jeff wrinkled his nose and attempted to create some distance between himself and Dean Pelton by shuffling closer to Annie. He found it slightly disconcerting that he wasn’t 100% sure which was his wife’s small hand and which belonged to his overly grabby former dean.
When they broke the hug Dean Pelton pulled a hanky out of his pocket and wiped his eyes, “I’m just going to miss all of you so much!”
Jeff sighed and reluctantly patted his shoulder. “I’m sure you’ll find another study group to bother soon enough.”
“That’s sweet Jeffrey, but it just won’t be the same.”
Annie, Shirley, and Britta attempted to comfort him. “It’s okay Dean, maybe we can come back and visit some time,” Annie suggested. Jeff shot her a look and she gave a helpless shrug.
Britta put her hand on his arm, “Yeah. You’ll see us again but it’s time for all of us to move on now. We can’t stay at Greendale forever.”
“I know, but goodbyes are always so hard,” He sniffled. “And with Jeffrey moving back to Denver I can’t even expect to run into him around town anymore.”
“Yes, what a shame,” Jeff deadpanned.
Dean Pelton looked up at him with a glimmer of hope in his eye, “Do you happen to know where you’ll be living yet?”
Jeff rolled his eyes, “No, we don’t know where we’ll be living yet.”
“But you’ll let me know when you do? You know, so I can send you Christmas cards and such.”
“Right, Christmas cards,” Jeff said skeptically.
A sudden commotion was heard from the quad outside and Dean Pelton looked up in alarm. “Oh no, I better go see what the fuss is about. Hopefully there aren’t raccoons under the stage like last year.” He scurried off in the direction of the glass doors.
“Is anyone else really curious about his Christmas cards?” Annie asked.
“Yes!” Troy, Britta, and Shirley exclaimed at the same time.
A few hours later they were all seated in a large corner booth at Morty’s Steakhouse. Two weeks before Jeff had announced that they all better be free the night of graduation because they were going whether they liked it or not. Britta scowled and started arguing about how she ‘isn’t going to be ordered around by any man and be told where to go’ before begrudgingly asked about vegetarian options on their menu.
Annie looked around the table at her friends and had to stop herself from getting misty-eyed at how perfectly imperfect it was. Shirley and Britta were chastising Pierce for making fun of their waiter’s lazy eye (thankfully not to his face), while Jeff was explaining fried calamari to Troy and Abed and that yes it was really squid and how yes some restaurants served it with the tentacles but you didn’t have to eat them and no Troy, if you do eat the tentacles they won’t suction cup themselves to your esophagus and choke you to death in revenge. That conversation quickly turned into the three of them discussing how that would make a good horror movie if done correctly.
Annie’s eyes focused on Jeff as he laughed with Troy, something about lobsters rising up in search of vengeance, she was far more focused on how even through Jeff’s suit she could see the faint outline of his biceps and the way his pecs strained against the fabric of his light blue button down when he moved just right.
She felt a rush of blood between her legs and attempted to mentally talk herself down. ‘This is ridiculous,” she thought, “we just had sex last night. But God, he’s so sexy in that suit, and he smells so good. No! Stop it, Annie. It’s not like I have to sit here and fantasize what it would be like to be with him anymore. He’s mine and has been for months. I’ve had sex with him a million times. This is a huge night, stop thinking about Jeff and his stupid gorgeous body with his stupid broad shoulders and muscles and soft lips and focus on dinner with your best friends.” She forced herself to join Shirley and Britta’s conversation and had just gotten it mostly off her mind when she felt a large, warm palm come to rest absentmindedly on her knee and a thumb start to stroke her skin lightly and ugh.
She glanced over at Jeff and noticed he wasn’t even looking at her, he was still engrossed in the seafood horror movie plot. Apparently he had just decided he wanted to touch her because if he had any idea what he was doing to her he was hiding it really well.
They made dinner last as long as possible, all very aware that this was the end of an era even before Abed said it. Annie couldn’t decide if she was grateful for that or being tormented by it. They ordered desert and coffee, and lingered after they had paid the bill. Finally, they headed out to the parking lot. Jeff and Abed stood off to the side while the other five hugged each other and cried next to the cars.
“You know Jeff, I think your character has gone through the biggest transformation, which isn’t really surprising. Even though we’re an ensemble cast your still technically the star.”
Jeff looked over at him, not even bothering to point out that they weren’t in a TV show. “You think?”
“Yeah. We’ve all gone some through changes obviously but yours is the most dramatic. On the first day of study group when you imagined this moment, were any of us here?”
“No. I was always by myself.”
“Exactly. You’ve learned to open your heart.”
Jeff eyes turned to Annie as she hugged Britta and a small smile crept onto his face, “Yeah, I guess I kind of did didn’t I? I may not be getting all teary eyed like them but I have to admit that part of me will miss this. And I know you will, too.”
Abed nodded, “I will. You guys are the first real friends I’ve ever had.”
Jeff clapped a hand on his back, “Ditto, buddy.”
Shirley was the first to peel herself away from the mass of limbs to head over to them. She hugged Abed first, then Jeff. “Jeffrey, I know I’ll be talking to you a lot. After all you’re the official owner and legal representative of Shirley’s Sandwiches.”
Jeff laughed as they pulled back from the hug. “I guess so. And by the way, I’ll be looking for a loophole in that stupid only one owner rule to get your name on there, too. You deserve it.”
“Oh that’s nice! If anyone can find it it’s you.”
“It shouldn’t be too hard, it’s Greendale after all.”
Jeff hugged the rest of them goodbye and they all promised to be in town for Pierce’s annual 4th of July party before everyone finally left.
Half an hour later as soon as they walked into Jeff’s apartment Annie pushed him up against the door before attacking his lips with her own and locking her fingers around his neck to pull him closer. Jeff was caught off guard for a split second before he regained his bearings and slid his hands down to grab her ass. She shoved her tongue roughly in his mouth and he elected to let her do whatever she wanted to him. When she finally pulled away for air she began shoving his suit jacket off his shoulders. “Off,” She whined impatiently.
Jeff huffed out a laugh and let go of her long enough to shrug the jacket off and throw it on a chair. “What’s gotten into you?”
“Do you care?” Annie mumbled as she attached her lips to his neck.
His head lolled to the side. “Fuck no.”
Her fingers went to work on his tie and loosened it then she pulled away just long enough to get it over his head and throw it behind her. Then she tugged his shirt out of his pants and slid her hands underneath. Jeff shuddered as her cool hands met the warm skin of his torso and dragged over his nipples as she sucked on the pulse point of his neck. He hitched the tight skirt of her dress up to her thighs and lifted her up by her ass to drag her over the bulge that had quickly formed in his pants. Annie tore her lips away and a whimper escaped her as she wrapped her legs around him, grinding herself against him again. “Jeff please, I want…”
Jeff shoved one hand between her legs and pushed her panties to the side to find her soaking wet already. He slid one finger between her folds. “What, tell me what you want, baby,” He growled in her ear.
Annie moved against his hand. “I want you to fuck me,” She pleaded. “I’ve wanted it since before dinner.”
“Where do you want me to fuck you?” He moved his finger eliciting a whine from her as she closed her eyes and squirmed in an attempt to get more friction.
“I don’t care. I was ready to drag you in a supply closet at the restaurant.”
Jeff grinned wickedly and pushed against her clit before quickly drawing back again, “Well we do have a good track record with supply closets, don’t we?”
Her eyes shot open and she gasped. “I kind of hate you right now.”
He chuckled as he tightened his grip on her and carried her to the bedroom, “Lucky for me I can change your mind pretty quickly.” He dropped her onto the mattress so she was on her knees then unzipped her dress, she held her arms up so he could pull it over her head and he tossed it to the side.
As he lowered his head to lick at the top of her breasts that were spilling over the cups of her bra her hands flew to his belt and quickly undid it then his fly. Jeff pulled back and kicked his pants and underwear off then went to work frantically undoing the buttons on his shirt.
Annie wrapped her hand around him making him grunt and jerk his hips, “Hurry.”
Jeff finally got himself free of the dress shirt and t-shirt that was underneath it and threw them on the floor next to her dress and his pants. In Annie’s attempt to shimmy out of her panties they got twisted around her ankle, she growled and shook her leg in an attempt to rid herself of the scrap of lace.
Jeff laughed and tugged her forward so she was pressed against him then reached behind her to tug her panties off her foot. “Spaz.”
“Shut it and fuck me, Winger.” She grabbed his face and attacked his lips again while his hands slid up to her back and he deftly unhooked her strapless bra. He yanked it out from between them and threw it over his shoulder, savoring the feeling of her naked breasts against his bare chest.
Jeff gently pushed her down to her back and crawled up the bed so he was hovering over her. Without warning he slid two fingers inside of her making her gasp and arch her back. “Jeff…”
He kissed the corner of her eye, forehead, cheek, and finally lips before moving so he was settled between her legs. Annie threw one leg around his torso and lifted her hips off the mattress, he growled and leaned down for one lick, needing her taste on his tongue, before sitting back up and pushing into her with one thrust.
Annie moaned as relief flooded through her at finally being filled by him. Jeff held still for a second before she started moving impatiently so he grabbed her hips and started thrusting into her, not even bothering with a slow start.
Annie reached out for him with one hand and grabbed his arm, “Come ‘ere, fuck.”
He adjusted himself so he was hovering over her again and propping himself up with his arms without losing his pace. Annie dug her fingers into the solid muscle of his shoulders, her nails digging half circles into his skin and met him thrust for thrust. Jeff did a little twist of his hips to make her cry out and grinned down at her, “You like that don’t you, baby?”
Annie closed her eyes tightly and nodded. “Uh huh, again,” She begged.
Jeff did it again only with more force before increasing his speed. Annie moaned loudly as she threw her other leg around him so he could get deeper and he could tell she was close as her walls gripped him tighter. Her hands slid from his shoulders to his hair and her fingers closed around the soft strands. “Jeff, please… oh god.”
Jeff shifted one arm up to the pillow to cradle her head with his large palm and leaned down to kiss her. “Annie…shit…come for me…” His other hand worked its way down to her clit to push her over the edge.
She felt the damn burst as she came hard around him, arching up and gasping out his name. Jeff dropped his head to her shoulder and grunted as he pounded into her while she clamped down on him. His hips jerked wildly into her and his body went stiff as he came, finally when he was spent he collapsed on top of her, breathing hard into her neck. Annie ran her hands over his slick back and felt the last shivers of his orgasm race through the muscles under her finger tips. She let her cheek rest against his head while he nuzzled and kissed at her neck.
“Jeff,” She breathed in his ear.
He hummed against her skin, “I love you, baby.”
Annie smiled and pressed a kiss to his temple. “I love you, too.”
Finally he pulled out and rolled off of her to his back. Annie hopped out of bed and hurried to the bathroom to clean herself up while he grabbed a tissue and did the same then pulled up the sheet and stretched out on his side. When Annie came back a few minutes later she settled in beside him.
A lazy smile stretched across Jeff’s lips and he ran his fingers through her hair, “I don’t know what brought that on but I’m sure as hell not complaining.”
She giggled and bit her lip, “You mean you don’t mind it when I jump you the minute you shut the front door? Shocker.”
“Right? Who would have thought?”
“Not me, that’s for sure,” She said around a yawn. “I’m tired.” She gave him a peck on the lips before snuggling into him, “Night, sweetie.”
Not long after Jeff laid there in the dark with Annie pressed into his side sound asleep. Her head was resting on his chest just above his heart and her hand was lying limply on his stomach. His fingers began idly messaging her scalp and she hummed softly in her sleep. When he started at Greendale he never dreamed that graduation day would be so bittersweet for him. He had expected to blow out of there, never look back, and convince himself that the past four years had been a dream. Abed was right. Pre-Greendale Jeff would be horrified by post-Greendale Jeff but he didn’t really care; now he had friends he didn’t want to forget and a fucking wife lying in his arms. He wouldn’t really miss the school part, and he was excited, albeit a little nervous to get back to the courtroom, but he would miss seeing them all so often and all the weird adventures they got themselves into. He finally had to admit to himself that being caught with a fake degree wasn’t the worst thing ever.
