So Saturday night was pretty fun even though I didn't party or do anything to that extent. No, instead I went to Maribel's house with the lovley Cece and we all just kicked back and had some laughs. I felt like a jukebox as I sang the night awayyyy.
Tonight I might do trick-or-treating tonight with my little cousins, or find somewhere to hang out. Last night I watched this special about halloween, and it turns out here is the true meaning for halloween:
in the 18th centery, according Peagan beliefs there was a night (October 31st) where the wall between the living and the dead was opened and the dead would come to the living. To ward off the dead, they would wear animal heads (costumes) and dance around. Another way to ward off these spirits was to have a large bon fire. The children in their animal heads went door to door collecting wood (present day candy) for the large fire. After the celebration, everyone would take an ember from the fire in a pumpkin (jack-o-lanterns) home, so they could start their own large fires at home to again ward off the dead.
There you have it, the true meaning of Halloween.
