Summer touring has begun. It is quite surreal that I will be on the road till Sept. I don't know exactly where I'll be yet or when I'll be there but will put dates up when I do.
Life has been pretty awesome lately though my underlying depression is still there. I've been reading, traveling, eating great food, sleeping in random people's houses and hotels and driving everywhere. When I'm not working I'm mostly keeping the MI HC page up to date and working on interview questions for the 3rd issue of the zine and writing random things that come to my head.
I feel as though I've been keeping quite busy outside of work though there's still a lot I haven't been able to get done. I need to transcribe what is currently done of the Paint It Black interview with Dan Yemin that will be in issue 3 and then send Dan follow up questions from there to complete the interview. Kristian from Crime In Stereo has a set of questions and 7 Generations, Deathcycle, The Effort and Capital will also be interviewed for the 3rd issue. If any of you reading this have any questions in mind for any of those bands please send them to me.
I finished reading Burning Fight today and plan to complete Can't Buy My Love (which everyone should read) in the next week or so. So many books to read!
I got a great phone call today. Since I talked to this person I don't think anything else can bring me down today. I love this feeling.
Today Anchor from Sweden and Run With the Hunted from Arizona are playing at The DAAC in Grand Rapids today with Damages and Victory, 2 local GR hxc bands. The show had to be moved from Refuge Skateshop in Dearborn last min. due to Z not being able to do the show on account of the arrival of his new child and having no bands able to play. I was/am quite worried about it but there's some really awesome people that are helping out with the show and ensuring that things go smoothly and the touring bands get paid/treated well.
Please, please, please check out both Anchor and Run With the Hunted if you haven't. They're both incredible current bands worthy of your attention that play 90's influenced hardcore.
I can see myself being at PETA for quite some time. I'm going to play the summer by ear and see how things go then make a decision in Sept. when we return as to whether or not I'll keep doing this position. Ideally I'd like to be a tour contractor for a year but like I said, we'll see how things go. My bosses gave me a really awesome review the other day and alluded to the fact that they'd like to see me stick around for a long time and move up in the organization which was amazingly flattering to hear. I kind of needed that after the long, boring, tedious week of training we had last week. I def. don't think I'm bad at this job but at the same time feel as though I'm not as good as they may think I am. But I'm always pushing myself down and setting the bar way too high.
I hardly keep in touch with anyone these days and I don't like it that way. If you read this and care to communicate with me more then please do.
