and having her Tongue Removed:
After her surgery, at the hospital, I smelt sterile air. I felt scared. I heard machines beeping and a machine breathing for my Mother. I saw my Mother laying limp on the bed, blood, an uncomfortable bed, the thermostat set at 98 degrees.
My first day at Classical,
not knowing a soul:
My first day, I smelt the musty air in the tunnel and stairways. I felt anxious. I heard unknown voices and people screaming to their friends they had not seen all summer. I saw unknown faces, many different ethnicity's all in one classroom, Danny Keough, Andrea Voccio.
