Designing a workflow

So, all you esteemed fellow AMV creators out there, I'm curious as to how you select what footage you're going to use.

Assume you've got a really f'ing long show like CCS and you want to make a vid. You have a concept in your head, you just need to find the scenes that will bring your concept to life, and you have a LOT of footage to work with. Do you...:

A: Rip the DVDs and then masochistically log/label descriptions of every scene

B: Watch the DVDs, write down what scenes you want, and then rip just those scenes.

C: Watch the DVD, memorize what scenes you want, and then rip just those scenes.

D: Watch the DVDs with the player plugged into a capture box and capture an interesting scene as you come across one.

E: Rip the entire DVD and just scrub around for scenes that look interesting.

For ATW6:35, I went with D. For my current project, I'm going with A (and I have my reasons). I figure in another two months I might be close to done logging.
