time in

a drive anywhere, especially after dark, is a very sobering moment. maybe it's the hypnotic lull of your '96 ford automatic moving through the gears never missing a beat. maybe it's those headlights dancing in front of you, with lines of cars hiding behind them. or could it be the silence, because you left the stereo off this time, cause for once you just needed a chance to think about things. like a short intermission between work and home you have just enough time to realize that maybe something is bothering you after all, but before you can put your finger on it, you're in your driveway. inside my car there's a different atmosphere, one that's serene and tranquil. today after school i got in my car and left the world outside and it was nice. it was my time out. sit still, let your eyes go out of focus, and just relax. you need a mental time out.
