Death Note afterthoughts

I've managed to watch all of Death Note in the last three days.  I honestly have mixed feelings about it.  It starts off so well and I was absolutely enthralled by the story.  Watching a prodigy warp into a brilliant killer/lunatic and looking in on his world...what he thought, how he reacted to things, etc.  Even his antagonist L...All extremely ( Read more... )

Hell damn, I agree with that. Some friends and I just watched through the whole thing a few months ago, and it was unanimous that the shift to Buddy Cops tracing down an Evil Business Man was awful. Then it got good again, but we had wacky new characters to deal with, and then it was over. But what can I say, that show has an amazing hook, and it's hard to stop watching after the first few episodes.

Also, I seem to be the only person who liked the second intro more then the first? Does that make me a bizarro?

omg the second intro threw me for a loop. It went from your typical anime intro to friggin insane death metal blairing and crazy jittering cameras and blood and slow motion bullets everywhere meanwhile all you see is FUCKER flashing on your screen over and over. Second intro was in short - AWESOME

Question - did you ever watch the live action movie? I'm really curious to watch it now.

Dave and I came to pretty much the same conclusion on it as you did. 1st act: Awesome. Second act terrible. Thrid act: still not as good as the first, but better than the second.

The two live actions movies are actually fairly good, though I thought they had enough material to make a thrid. I liked the movie's ending way better than the show's ending, cause they basically skipped over most of the second arc and thrid arc, and went straight to the end. Though I would have liked to see more of the mind games of L and Kira, but you get enough of that in the show.

I haven't seen the movie ending, but it was spoiled for me, and I gotta say I like it more. Way tighter.

Because really, what is a better intro for a show called Death Note then Death Metal? blake_reitz January 17 2008, 21:46:07 UTC
I have not, but I'm told that it has a much tighter ending. I'd spoil it for you, but I should wait till I actually see it, lest I just spoil things I imagine would happen.
