I helped Lauren move into her new apartment in New Paltz today. The day really started out looking like it was going to be disasterous but we managed to get it all together. It was a good decision on my part to help her, she would have probably had a meltdown if i hadnt.
I barely slept 3 hours last night making a great start to the day. Since I was up so early to get ready to meet Lauren in Monroe at 9.30, my dad and I actually crossed paths at 8 am. He asked me if I was getting ready for work this early, and I told him no, I was going to go help my friend move from Monroe up to New Paltz. He asks me if Im getting paid to do this and tell him no, but I dont mind she is my friend, that is what is important, and he goes off on a rant on how I should go work at the photo lab because making money is more important than helping out a friend in need for nothing in return, yet says to me, it's ok for us to disagree. [Not on something like this it isnt. Selfish asshole.]
So I make it up there on time, and thankfully Nathan had gotten a job and wouldnt be there during all of this, and Lauren wouldnt end up in tears. We took some time to do some planning, almost couldnt find a van to rent, but by 11 we had a truck and she had the security check for her landlord. Once we had the truck loaded up we realized we had a dilemma, Lauren had agreed to meet up with her landlord at 2 in New Paltz, but her daughter had to be picked up from school in Monroe at 3.30, not giving us enough time to unload the truck and get back in time. Lauren's mother came through for once and agreed to pick Faith up.
We got up to New Paltz no problem, though the damn uhaul truck sounded like it wanted to fall apart, thankfully it didnt, handed over the security, got the keys and headed over to her new apartment on Main street. We didnt start to unload the truck immediately, i needed to make good on my boast of being the first person to use her bathroom, and she had to show me the flaw of the apartment. The kitchen and bedroom floors are slanted. It isnt the worst flaw for an apartment, but shes worried her daughter is going to hate it. She kept going on about how taking the apartment was a mistake and she should have waited another week, though this had been the best apartment she had seen so far. We got coffee at the Muddy cup, strolled around town a bit, and got back to moving, and i spent half the time trying to get her to realize that a slanted floor wasnt so bad.
After a few more fits about the floor, and the guy downstairs assuming we were a couple hahaha, everything was in, both of us sweaty and smelly, we got food, and headed back to Monroe to drop the truck off and part ways, and i think im falling. Falling for New Paltz.
I was actually so tired for once i managed to stay awake for about an hour before passing out at 9 pm, yet not before my dad could talk to me again. He really is losing it. He tried telling me that i cant use the car for anyting that isnt related to going rcc for work, or finding another job until, i have a full time job. I need to get away from him. I dont know how that man is my father.
Overall today was great. Slightly stressful, but in the end very successful. I think im going to end up spending more and more time up at New Paltz.
