"Love life."

Apr 21, 2006 15:30

I spent some time with Diana yesterday and today at the Leach School in New Castle. She lovedit-and recognized me right away wheni came in yesterday to say hi. I ended up staying until the end of the day and coming back this morning. We did Special Olympics this morning and she had a lot of fun! Then we went outside and ate lunch, or her class did and instead Dee and i went on the swings! She loves swinging, we also went swining inside on Thursday at the end of the day, she was so relaxed and smiling. Today after swining we went inside and got ready for the tball game they were having in the afternoon.

I was going to leave around 12:30 so i was getting a picture with D and she wouldnt smile, and she knew something was going on, she was so stubborn. As we walked outside and before we went outside D started making her crying noises and crying. We went outside and she had tears rolling down her face. And when i said okay D i will see you later and took a step away she began crying harder and tears rolling down her eyes and her mouth open and so upset. I felt so bad, if anything had ever broken my heart it was leaving her like that. It made me want to cry and then i really realized what kind of an impact i had on her. Im so much of a friend to her-and she recognizes me and watches me wherever i go when i talk to someone else. She is all smiles around me and loves it when i am there. She was so upset, and my heart completely sank when i saw tears on her face like that. : \

If i learned one thing from being there is that no one should ever take their lives for granted for one single day They should never take for granted eating food, drinking, being able to walk around, or even talk. Most of the kids at Leach can't do any of that. The 5 other kids in D's class are tube fed and cant talk and are in wheelchairs. When you see kids who DONT have those capabilities that you do, all you want to do is help them and you realize how important your life is. Even being able to go to the bathroom on your own. And when these kids accomplish something-that is their satisfaction. That theyjust completed that task that took them somuch to learnand do and each of them makes so many strides to complete tasks like those things. AtMATP this morning i watched every athlete accomplish something that they worked so hard for. They loved it, and everyone cheered and yelled and they just smiled. Their smile is worth a 1000 words because what they did is something they CAN do. I love life, i cannot take it for granted, but i can enjoy it because of what God has given me.

Here'sD havin some fun today:

This picture truely brings out Diana's personality around me, she is such a happy girl

Doing what he loved doing-waiting for the ball to come out of that thinghaha

Thats it, i cant change the past but i can love the future-and thats what i plan on doing. I love going somewhere that makes a difference in me..
