update from the office
hello
right now im at the office in nyc doing a risky thing. i am updating from my cubicle, while i should be working!
today is my last day here, and im not complaing about that at all. its not that fun to wake up at 4:45 to come to work. i did this for 5 days, but it seems like so much longer. im really not supposed to have this job because i dont have working papers and am underage to be working for 10 hours. this job consits of orginizing, putting in order, reprinting and redoing, binding and hole punching journal vouchers for the company. doesnt seem that bad right...WRONG! heres a way to give you a good idea of these things.
imagine...
every month of the year for the years 2002-2003
imagine a stack of papers a foot and 1/2 high for all 24 months
imagine having to put the numbers on the paper in oreder that are about 6 digits long
then getting alist and checking to make sure each number needed is there
then hole punching and binding all the papers
and moving onto the next stack
(was jsut almost caught)
it doesnt seem like alot of work when really its kind of tough. you can do one in about 3-4 hours. im lucky i had another girl here named Noel to help me a little for a few days. i also noticed i get extremly sluggish after my (almost caught) lunch break and cant get as much accomplished. dont ask me why. random text messages from a bunch of people and at times escaping to livejournal has helped me get through these 10 hour days. but its been a "good expierience" i guess. (almost caught yet again) seeign what the working world is like, and it brings the thoughts of marrying rich oh so pleasant :P i cant wait until next summer where i can have a job that doesnt require much thinking and long hours. again....even thought it was only 5 days it seems like much much longer. although there were some perks
- going out to lunch everyday
- getting paid 10 dollars an hour
- hearing lots of adult humor that was enough to make you piss in your pants :)
- using the copy machine ( yes i was entertained so sue me)
- getting french vinella coffie at this amazing place every morning (today i actually had 2 cups)
- and seeing people around the office that are pleasant and would actually like to talk to me
well i should try to finish my last journal voucher and see if my dad will get us out earlier today. ill update more again tonight
