shattered, falling
waking dreams so wholly denied
twisting forever,
bloodied knife in the wound
screaming on the inside
fighting to be heard
feeling so unwanted, unreal
pressured into... what?
a doll, a failure
a living, unconscious corpse -
unable to find expressions so needed
held to stereotypes
and golden lies,
everything that makes me imperfect
each untruth told by blood-red lips
pale from exhaustion
oh-so-grey, yet burning...
breathless, waiting
fingers crossed for eternity
waiting for the last blow to fall
and finally, irrevocably-
fragments of a heart lie on the pavement
stepped on, bloodied and bruised
melted by imprints glittering fair
of so many souls:
loved and trusted
who were too careful with me...
denying release when i just need to
