moment.

Just for a moment

One more moment that I could say goodbye to Rob, Joe thought for one of countless times in the past month. Wishing didn’t get anyone anywhere unless they happened to be in a fairy tale with a genie’s lamp in hand or just having freed a magical being. Unfortunately for Joe, and for Rob, this wouldn’t work.

Joe tucked the picture of his brother and him back into his coat pocket, the image still in his mind as if were still before his eyes, before walking into the gas station’s mini-mart. He needed something more to stay awake as he drove back to the city, crossing the country as quickly as possible in his car.

No one knew to contact Joe after Rob’s death, until Sheena their band’s bassist, found a number of the friend Joe was staying with on the West Coast. So, Rob was buried with no one to lay a sign of mourning on his freshly dug grave, no one to say anything for him.

As he thought about the casket being lowered into the grave as it poured cold, drenching rain, a mournful frown crossed his scared lips. It probably wasn’t raining, he thought quickly to dismiss this morbid image. It couldn’t have been.

The thought clung to his mind, going deeper, to how Rob looked in his casket. He had been stabbed to death outside his apartment but that couldn’t have been seen as the wounds were in his back. Rob was dressed in an old suit that they’d managed to find in his apartment, packed away and a few years out of use.

“What about his killer?” you ask. Hasn’t been found yet. Only clue was quite bizarre. A knife, still in wonderful condition, looking to be made of silver and of the 15th century era was found nearby the body. No prints, not even a partial on the handle were found.

When Joe heard the detail about the knife, something clicked. He knew that Eryk, Disarray’s twin, well she claimed anyway some relative, owned some old knives that she had quite a liking to. Plus it was no secret that there was tension between Disarray and Rob just before the time of his death.

First thing he would do when he got in time would be to take a nice, long, hot shower. Then he’d pay a visit to Diana Silver, also known as Disarray.
