The Shadows
They blame the shadows
With stereotypes they see on TV
But I’ve known shadows
Society never cares to see
I’ve known intellectuals, artists, writers
I’ve known linguists, loners, fighters
Those shadows
They’re out there
And they are hard to miss
But society tells me “they simply don’t exist.”
The status quo is
Fuck the facts and fuck the history
Shadows only bring us down
They’re just a liability
They portray them with a giant bell curve
They deface the facts
They lie
But of course, we live in ‘merica
Where no one questions
Why.
