they were out of beer. darn.
one morning, before school, from the bedroom window of my flat.
Alicante is usually warm. although, there was a cold front the entire month i was there, people are usually already at the beah in january and february.
this is the mountain with the castle. see the face? there's a legend and the following pictures are from the castle at the top of the mountain.
Daniel I fed the kitties at the castle tuna. I'll get to Daniel next.
I just want to interrupt here to write down some of the thoughts that are occuring to me whilst I do this. For one, Life moves by fast. Secondly, Time doesn't exists. Now...how can I say that and be so contradictory? Well before I left, I thought 6 months was a long time and I'm here and I still think its a long time to be away from my family, my best friends, my boyfriend, my pets, my job, my habits. I miss merging on the highway! But I feel like in 6 months I'm rushing so much. My month is Alicante flew and if it wasnt because I was going to miss Carnaval and my birthday and my grandma would be lonely, I would have enjoyed one more month of it. I would have climbed the mountain a couple more times and had a picnic up there and taken my books. I would have taken a picture of that 24 hour store that closed everyday at 2. But I would have still been counting down the days that I would be able to be here like I did while I was there. And in the time that I'm here I miss Alicante and Daniel and I miss the U.S. it's hard to be somewhere and not miss something else. When I only had 6 weeks here, I enoyed everyday like it was my last and it has been one of my favorite times of my life. At any rate, life is what you make of it. That's how I'll end it. hahaha
this is Daniel. He's shy. He was my best friend in Alicante. We practically did everything together and he was one of the people that taught me to enjoy Alicante and make the best of the time I had and that's exactly what we did.
This is Andrew on the far left. He's pretty much the shit. yeah they both have accents and hott.
Andrew is Scottish and Daniel is Irish.
This is Jimmy. He's from Missouri. My favorite fraternity gentleman. We shared a love for nature. The assumption that I spoke more English than Spanish in Alicante is correct.
This is Dominque from D.C. and probably the reason the guys and I bonded so well.
So Daniel and Dominque lived with a host family from Argentina...in Spain, and they hadn't experienced any Spanish culture through gastronomy or much else. (Alicante is Spain's U.S. i think. lol) so I promised them a Spanish tortilla. dum dum dum!
yeah I can cook.
except when it's a sucky ass pan.
but the Sangria was amazing and we became addicts of it.
Dominque again.
we love to dance! that girl looking at me, that was my Spanish grammar professora.
Gawd, I love Jimmy and texting him hypothetical texts the next morning.
HOW DO I POST VIDEOS THAT IVE UPLOADED TO PHOTOBUCKET!?
This is Megan and her boyfriend Chris. They're from Texas. our only time hanging out was my last night in Alicante and we both realized that was such a mistake to wait.
man! seriously I miss them!
This was Valentine's Day at school. We all made cards for each other.
The person with the most cards won a prize and the person who made the most creative cards won another prize.
I won most creative. it was probably the funnest school assignment I'd ever done.
the three in the front on the right were my professoras. The lady in the front, srt of standing up was Belen, from the office (not everyone is in the picture) The two girls on the far left were 2 of my 3 roomates. One was Swiss and the other one was French. neither one spoke English and the Swis girl spoke very little Spanish, whereas the french girl didn't at all, but both were still super sweet and friendly and we managed to communicate through charades and my very poor french.
The lady with the curly hair was the school's director. Everyone was so warm!
Megan and I cracking up at the cards we made each other.
and this was the day we woke up and decided to take a tram to a pretty town and ended up missing our stop, getting off at another town, taking the bus too many times and seeing nothing but the bathroom stalls from city hall in some small town we had never heard of.
and if someone could teach me how to post videos, i'll put some of those up here.
Thanks for sharing this with me.
Starting from the beginning. AND VIDEOS! (I didnt mention that in the cut)
