Okay, I am finally giving a real update. Yay! :)
Saturday was totally awesome. I don't know how to better describe it. Shaun, Casey, Ron, Jessica, and I got to Real Fest at around 3-something, I think. We immediately ran into Jimmy and then went off with Jon and Mario, whom we spent most of the day with. I autographed Jon's arm and it was just funny. I tracked down Laura and hung out with her too. I got to know Rosie (Mario's sister) a lot better and she's really nice. :) We all voted for Providence as the best band, hoping out of the 30 that they would rank pretty high! They didn't play 'til 6:35. As soon as Jimmy got up there during their sound check, I knew the crowd loved them. He's so personal with the audience. He's totally him up there, funny and down to earth. I think people really like that in a band. Realness is important. They even started with a little part of Jimmy's rendition of "Hero" which is completely hilarious. Then into my favorite song, "Paradise." They all jumped at the same time, and in mid-air, the power went out! The lights and everything. And instead of getting annoyed or anxious, the guys just laughed and made a big joke out of it. The crowd cheered so loudly. It was so cool. Not even a few minutes after the guys prayed, the problem was fixed and the show went on! It was GREAT. I was so proud of them up there, doing so well, connecting so well with the crowd. And of course, they did not forget to include God. Some of the other bands gave Him a quick mention, but Providence spoke of Him as if reminding us how amazing He is and how much He loves us. Sometimes we tend to lose sight of that. They did their new song which is incredible. Gosh, I wish I had that on a CD. :) A few other band played after Providence but I still feel like no one was better than them. Maybe I'm biased cuz they're my friends, but I think they are just an awesome band and such awesome guys. We waited anxiously to hear the results of the voting. 3rd place was announced... It wasn't them... 2nd place... PROVIDENCE!!!! Out of 30 bands... SECOND PLACE!! That is so awesome!!! A ska band won first because they brought a million people with them so they had more votes. But STILL... I was so excited for them. I told each of them that they did so great. I can't help but be so proud of them!! I'm excited to be along for the ride with them. Not only as a fan, but as their friend. :) It's a lot of fun.
And then I have to complain about Valentines Day like I said I would... lol... I'm pretty used to spending it alone by now so it didn't affect me like it used to. And I am so much more content now than I have ever been so I wasn't falling apart all day. That's good. Even still, I wish that there was someone to buy cheesy cards and presents for and someone to be excited about on that day. I know there will be soon. I just have to be patient.
The day wasn't all boring and lonely though. I ended up going to the movies ("the cheapies") with Jimmy, Jon, Shaun, Stephanie, Laura, and Meghan. We saw Fat Albert. It was cute. We had fun. I guess we always do. :)
I have an important career decision to make... Please pray for me.
