My mom, my sister Shandra, my uncle Victor, and his ex, Uncle Mark were all just sitting around in the living room, my mom being her usual cranky self, and this is the gist of the conversation that ensued...
Uncle Mark: Jeez, why you so grumpy, you got your period?
Mom: No, my ankle is still bothering me. (She twisted it recently.)
Shandra: Well, I have a constant backache, how do you think I feel?
Uncle Victor: Oh yeah, well I have AIDS.
(pause)
Me: Well, you trumped us all.
I just thought it was funny. I like the fact that he can have a sense of humor about it. After this, we even joked a bit about the Family Guy "Full-Blown AIDS" song, and the fact that the cure for AIDS is $180,000, shot straight into the bloodstream (at least according to South Park).
I love my family.
