Question:
Has "DVR" entered the common lexicon as a verb? As in - "I am going out to dinner tonight so I am DVR'ing 'The Office.'"
I had taken to using TiVo as the verb when referring to the recording of a program with my digital cable box. TiVo, used as a verb, is definately common, if not silly: "I TiVo-ed the American Idol results show last night." However, using this expression, i've found, usually prompts the question: "oh, you have TiVo? I just use the DVR on my Comcast box." I would then have to explain that I was just using the expression...etc.
Using the verb "to record," for me at least, still conjures up the image of a video cassette and a VCR. So is it appropriate and non 'TV Geek' to use the verb "to DVR?"
