I recently entered my very first LIMS competition. It was so much fun and I really learned so much about icon making. Here are all my entries in order along with some of the many alternate versions I made along the way.
OMG, they're stunning!! All icons are just gorgeous I just can't stop staring at them right now *__* I love how you use textures and fonts, and your coloring is fantastic :D. My favourites are 1 and 4 from the first batch and 8, 9, 12 and 14 from the second ^^.
I can't wait for my summer vacation because I plan to read all the books =D.
Yay for Harry Potter love hehe. I'm working on reading the first book in Italian since I've nowhere else to practice my language skills right now and I practically know the book by heart lol.
I have it in Polish too ;) Though I don't understand any of it...lol.
But they're really gorgeous ^^. And I forgot to add that they're also very creative - I have some problems with that recently and finally I end up making some simple icons which looks similarly.
Practicing through reading is great and in my opinion brings good results :). I've learnt many words like that. And wow - I'm not surprised that you don't understand because usually for people from other countries Polish is pretty hard to learn :D. But do you like our covers? (I don't know which book you have but I'm just curious :) )
The creativity is a lot due to the challenges we had to do, many of which were things I had never done before like text-only icons and black & white with selective coloring. It was so great to get to try out so many new techniques!
Yep, Polish isn't like any language I've studied at all. I did know how to say hello and goodbye at one point but that was it lol.
Actually your covers are the same as the American ones. I have the first book.
I love trying new things! But sadly when I work on icons by myself, without any instructions I have troubles with creating something new or different.
It's still a lot that you knew how to say these :D. I mean I guess that not many people know anything about Plish language in other countries (especially not European ones).
Oh! I had no idea, lol. I don't know why but I just thought that your covers are the same as in the UK :). Maybe because your books are in English as well. So, I really like those covers - more than british ones ^^.
Yeah I often have that problem as well which is why the LIMS proved to be so helpful.
Well it was just because someone taught us how to say those words while we were there, though I kept having to be reminded lol.
Yep those are the American covers. Over here they are put out by a different publisher than the UK books and they change some things because British English and American English use some different words so for example Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was published in America as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
I prefer our covers as well, though the UK adult versions look pretty cool.
