I saw my friend David today at Blockbuster. We had a bit of a falling out earlier this month, so I had considered not saying hello...then I realized it would be petty and immature to pretend that I did not see him. I am ashamed that I even had that thought. I walked up to him and said hello. He greeted me with a big grin and a tackle-hug and complimented me on my hair. This caught me off-guard, as he's usually negative and unapproachable. I decided to go with it, and he invited me to go to Starbucks with him, which is right across the street from the video store.
Yes, I allowed him to buy me a cup of coffee. But I am justifying by saying that it is very rare to catch him in a good mood and to refuse said coffee would have put a damper on his spirits...
If you thought that was a lame excuse, that's okay. I think it's legitimate. ^_^
So we played "catch up." It was awesome. I felt like I could talk to him just as I could back in the ole days in the high school cafeteria. He's quit smoking and drinking (which tickled me pink, if you want to know the truth), and he's been sober for about three months now. I'm so happy. I'm going to continue to keep him in my prayers, but its different talking to him when he hasn't had alcohol in his system. Really, I was about ready to shed tears of happiness right there in the coffee shop.
We might get together again before I leave for SA. I hope so.
Have a good one!
