Remember, remember, the 5th of November, the Gunpowder Treason and plot

Penny for the Guy?

Firstly, I must direct you all towards my third adayinmylife entry which I did on the 27th of October. If you click you can see my gorgeous faux deathhawk which I’ve been sporting of late (expect tonight, as I took a shower) which everyone seems to love (Grandma even told me she liked it, which I found rather hilarious). Also included in the entry are Marie Antoinette and The World’s Smallest Wrap.

Secondly, I must comment on Nanowrimo, as I haven’t since the second day. This year’s progress is rather amazing; I have surpassed all of the hosers in Windsor who always had a larger word count than I did last year. I’m currently sitting on 11608 words, when last year I was probably on 8000 words around this time.

The first chapter is a very long rambling account of a single evening which totals an incredibly 9974 words. That’s terribly long for a chapter, I know, but I’ve had bad examples of late. Two of the books I’m currently reading are awfully slow. In one the entire novel takes place over the course of one night. In the other, the author describes so much emotion and so much about the time and the city that I can’t help but follow suit.

I’ve started the second chapter, which is written through Anouk’s point of view. I had been dreading writing her but once I dived in I just couldn’t stop writing. I’m finding her even easier to write than Kurt, who I think is really alike me in ways. Anouk always felt like a challenge to me, a challenge that I, as Kurt, had to face to get Dave. I didn’t quite like her when I first began to create her because in my mind she was the “perfect” woman; the person that I always wanted to be but could never become. But now I’ve made her flawed and complicated and I thank Davey that I like her so much now.

Lastly, I want to wish everyone a Happy Guy Fawkes Night, despite the fact that most of you aren’t British. It seems unfair to me that even though we as Canadians are originally British we don't celebrate the 5th of November, but Australia and New Zealand do. Bah hum bug. I want to start the tradition here!

I had originally planned to have a Guy Fawkes Night celebration with a bonfire, traditional Guy Fawkes Night food, and a viewing of V For Vendetta and the Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (because V is my Husband! and I can never watch just one Husband! movie at a time) but I was bailed out on. Next year I guess.

I celebrated myself by watching V and reciting the poem to myself in the shower à la Evey (I have matched her faux English accent quite nicely). Now I am off to read the comic, as I’ve still yet to read all of it.
