I'm curious.

How do you guys feel about 9/11-based films?

As someone who was so close to that destruction but was lucky enough to have no one I know hurt or dead- it bothers me. Alot. It's like reopening a wound. So many people are traumatized and it is still fresh in so many's memory- why do we need a movie- why? What purpose does it serve? I know that with the 9/11 movie before this, the families of victims wanted the movie to be made as a tribute to the passengers who fought back. I can understand this perspective- but let's leave it at that. No one needs to see that day re-enacted. Did we not have enough footage from the event itself? Maybe we can pump some ash into the theatre so I can really get into the moment and reminisce at the smell of burnt bodies drifting over the Hudson River.

I guess my reaction is- What purpose would making all these movies serve? People are still mourning- no one's forgotten. I don't think I could ever stomach watching a re-enactment of that day and all that happened to me that day was that I was a closer to the event physically than most of the people in the US and witnessed the aftermath. For people who were unfortunate enough to lose someone- I don't know how you can even sit through the commercials.

Sorry if I'm babbling. I was actually going to do an entry in my own lj regarding this topic.
