I have sought thee, sung thee, dreamed thee, Dulcinea...
God, this has been a time of changes like no other. And for the first time in a long time, I'm purely and truly happy.
Let's start off with the negatives. My computer crashed, so I'm not able to get online. The musical is this weekend, and it's really hectic and stressful. I'm kind of worried that it won't turn out that good, but I guess it's just a case of nerves.
And now, for the good news. This past weekend, I went to Notre Dame for Spring Visitation, and, my God, it was the greatest experience of my life. The minute I walked onto the campus, I felt like it was home. Friday morning, all the SpringVis kids were in this meeting room to listen to people speak about the school. The dean said "All of those who applied early decision and early action, please stand up. Congratulations, you all got in to the University of Notre Dame!" That didn't include me because I applied regular admission so I was nervous at this point. Then he says, "Now, the rest of you stand up."
"Congratulations, you also got into the University of Notre Dame!"
My heart exploded I was so happy, but it got even better. We got to meet with financial aid counselors later that day, and I was really nervous about my aid package. ND costs almost $45,000 a year, including room, board, and expenses. I’m a poor kid, and I was super scared that I wouldn’t be able to afford it. So I went up to the meeting, all prepared to try to find a way to get more help. But the counselor sits me down, has me look at the computer screen with my aid package, and smiles at me.
First, let me inform you how much the expected cost of Notre Dame (including EVERYTHING) is $44,450.
My financial aid package is $44,450.
I'm going to Notre Dame for free.
The only loans I have to pay are the federal loans, which are only $4,000 a year, and I don't have to pay those till after college. The rest includes the university scholarship and federal grants.
This weekend was the greatest weekend of my life. Aside from getting the most amazing news ever, I also met some amazing people. I met probably the most interesting and genuine person I have ever met in my life, a wonderful and interesting girl by the name of Julia. I stayed up with her all Saturday night talking to her before her flight left at 4 in the morning.
Life is amazing.
