I'm Up...
So here I am, awake. Kiel's still sleeping, poor third shift boy. :( He'll probably wake up earlier today just because he doesn't have to work, so we can spend a bit more time together. I just kind of relaxed this weekend, mainly because last week was so busy. I needed a chance to just chill. Next week should be pretty busy too. We have our work Christmas party on Thursday. We're gonna start the day with just the Facility Managers getting together, and then go to a big party that's all of GSA. I'm bartending for an hour, woohoo.
Tuesday, Kiel and I went to see Wicked. He met me after work, and we went to this Italian place called The Village. I wasn't that impressed, especially because it was so expensive. The soup tasted like it came from a Campbells can, and the pasta was so cooked it was kinda mushy. Then we walked to the play. It was really awesome, except the couple sitting next to us drove me crazy. The guy fell asleep and starting snoring, then at intermission his date was like "It's too crowded here, let's leave" and they left. I was glad, because they were annoying me, but seriously, spend that much money on a play only to leave? Oh well, it was an awesome play.
Wednesday some co-workers and I went to Goose Island. It's a brewery. I'm not a big fan of beer, so I tried the beer of the day, and didn't like it. The sandwich I had was awesome. It was a veggie wrap, and the hummus they used was amazing. We all hung out though, exchanged crazy work stories.
Friday the group of trainees (we call ourselves "Horizon") went out on an Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl. I didn't wear an ugly sweater, because I wasn't about to go buy one, and I really don't live close enough to my parents to borrow one. I don't think my mom even has an ugly Christmas sweater. It was fun, though. We started out at this bar called Elephant and Castle. It was super crowded, and I'd been there once before. We were going to go at Howl at the Moon, but it was a $10 cover. It's supposed to be a pretty cool bar. It's a dueling piano bar, and the crowd it draws is mostly from outside of Chicago. We went across the street to another bar, which was also very crowded. Finally, we made it to this bar called English, which is three stories. It has food, and dance floor, etc, and they play really good music. We started drinking at four, is that crazy, or what? So we were done pretty close to 10:00. By the time I got home, it was pretty close to 11:00, if you add in the train ride. That's the only downside to living in the suburbs.
Saturday I spent relaxing with Kiel until he went to work around 7:00. I know, lame, I just played video games and read all night. Today is gonna be just as chill, except Kiel will be home all night. I'll probably finish up the laundry and clean up a bit more.
Next weekend we're going to do "our" Christmas. I bought him an Xbox 360, so I bet he'll be real pleased with it. I bought us stockings that we're gonna stuff, and such. We'll either go out to dinner or cook steak. For Christmas, Kiel has to work Christmas Eve, so he'll be done at around 5:00 AM Christmas morning, so we'll leave when he gets home. We'll be home around the time my family starts opening presents. I don't know how long I'll be in town yet, but I'm hoping through Monday. I moved my extra day off to the Friday after Christmas, only to find out President Bush gave all executive agencies the Friday after Christmas off, so I can move my day off to the next Monday. The only hiccup is that we need to make sure we have at least two people in on Monday, so we're having a staff meeting to see how much this extra day changes everybody else's use of leave.
