I am alive and well
So I am down 14 pounds and two inches for the month of January!!!! Woot woot!!! Everything is shrinking! Well there are a couple of things that have stayed the same...XD lol!!
Anyway, all but two pairs of jeans fall off now, the other two fit perfectly. Dang I hate pants shopping, they either end up fitting in the waist but being too short, or fitting in the legs but being to big in the waist.
People (especially at work) keep asking my why and what my secret is, so here goes:
Why: Why not? J/k. Every person owes it to themselves to be healthy. You have a chance at a longer life if you take care of yourself. Plus think about how many people love you and care about you. This is especially important if you have kids. Think about how sad they'd be (and you'd be) if you died before you saw them graduate, or take their first step even, because you died of heart disease or something. What do you believe in? (ask yourself this) God? Buddah? Nature? Whatever? Not taking care of yourself is pretty much saying F**k God, Nature, Allah, Buddah....whatever. They/he/she/my parents gave me this wonderful gift called life but I'm gonna say f**k that and just waste it. That's pretty much what people are saying when they don't take care of themselves. They don't value life enough to wanna be here and enjoy it longer. How much of life can you really enjoy when your sitting in front of the tube stuffing your face with junk? How much fun can you really have with your kids at the park when your sitting there huffing and puffing after pushing your kid only twice on the swing? What about the medical bills piling up for all the medical conditions that could have been prevented if you'd have taken care of yourself?
The list could go on and on...but I think I have made my point...
What/how: This is not secret folks...this has been around for years and years but so many people (I should say Americans) overlook it. Eat healthy and excercise. It works. And adding a diet coke to your big mac and super size fries does NOT count as dieting, sorry. It's not that hard actually, once you make these changes, your body will get used to it and all that junk will seem unappealing. Seriously, if mother nature intended for us to drink soda, our oceans and likes would be filled with it. If she intended for us to eat candy and other highly processed junk, it would grow on trees and in the ground.
What works for me(and will work for you): Cutting out any kind of hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup. Organic is the way to go although it might not be as convenient for others. Check the labels. If so called healthy foods cantain this crap. Why is that stuff so bad? It literally gets stuck in your digestive tract and colon making it harder to absorb nutrients. Why? The human digestive system wasn't built to digest that stuff. People don't realize it but they can be carrying anywear from 5-30 extra pounds of this junk!! Have you ever seen someone who was mostly thin except around the belly? Sometimes they almost look pregnant (but they are not)? That is due to a poor diet and all the junk stuck in their digestive system. A way to get rid of it is to detox. And no that does not mean you have to drink just juice for a week. There are special vitamin supplements you can take the pushes all of that out. Of course you have to stay away from processed junk or it defeats the purpose.
And since a lot of you are like me and still happen to like cookies, ice cream, whatever. My advice to you is: Eat them. In moderation of course. Check the serving size on the package. Most Americans tend to eat 2-3 extra serving sizes. And eat organic/natural cookies/cake/chips. Making them yourself is the best bet since you can control what goes in there. Then you wont have to wonder about the artificial ingredients.
Tips for staying full longer: Eat a serving of walnuts, almonds or cashews before a meal. Allergic? Eat a peice of fruit (like an apple or pear) before a meal. Also, eating a broth based soup before lunch or dinner will keep you from eating to many calories from the rest of your meal. Most fruits and vegtables are negative calorie foods which mean the take more calories to burn than they actually contain. So you can eat the same amount of calories you do now, but replace all your usual junk food with fruits and vegetables and still lose weight and NOT go hungry.
Don't be afraid to fall off the wagon. If you end up eating a double cheeseburger with bacon, don't say to yourself, "oh, I msessed up, there goes my whole diet plan, oh well". Get right back up again and eat healthy at your next meal. Just keep going. When you were a kid and you fell of the swing did you just sit there in the sand and cry? No, you got back up and tried again. It should be the same with dieting.
Exercise: 30 minutes or more daily. The time does NOT have to be consecutive. You could do 10 minutes in the morning, 10 in the afternoon and 10 in the evening. As long as you get your heart rate up. Like to dance or go clubbing? Dancing burns a lot of calories. Just turn on your radio and get moving!!! Do laps around the mall, especially if you live near a big mall, you'll get through in no time. There are so many ways to burn calories, there is something for everyone. I've gotten back into bellydancing and I go to Bally's. Find whatever works for you
Lastly: Compare yourself to yourself and yourself alone. I compare myself now, to how I used to be and that makes it easy to see how far I have come. Everyone is different and everyone progresses at different rates so you only have yourself to compare to. Forget what the media tells you, if you want to know what your ideal weight should be, go to the doctor. The doctors and nutrtionists are the real experts at this, not Nicole Richies stylist.
