Kiriha, the rival makes his appearance!

I thought I was only going do a short outline this week since I've been busy and the dialogue in this episode was challenging, but then I started working on it, and well...

Anyway, my various comments are intertwined.

“Well, what do you think, Taiki?” asks Shoutmon. Taiki replies that he can’t really comment when he doesn’t know what he’s looking at, and Shoutmon tells him it’s the new mark for their flag. If they’re going to have an army, they need to have a symbol! But, the need something else too, a name. Taiki ponders this as the scene changes.

Baguramon calls together his three disciples but a fourth, uninvited guest shows up (Baarumon?). The others aren’t pleased, attacking him and calling him a god of death. Not sure what that’s about, but realizing he’s hated, Baarumon leaves and the unseen Baguramon gets to business. Bringing up the subject of the human children, Tactimon talks of what a nonsense the blue group has been, only to be told by Baguramon that what he really wanted to discuss is that a boy with a red cross loader has appeared. Baguramon states that the number of these humans must not go up.

Shoutmon passes out to everyone a new device that will let them communicate from distances. Taiki accepts it readily only to be pummeled by Akari and Zenjirou telling him that he can’t just TOUCH things from this world as he pleases, the last time that happened the two of them got dragged into this whole mess with him (ahaha that’s pretty funny).

Zenjirou has basically had enough, stomping his foot on the ground only to be carried away by… wait, what? Jijimon, always in the nick of time, explains that it’s a “take no ko” (a bamboo sprout). (Note: Bamboo really does look like that when it first sprouts from the ground, and it grows FAST… well maybe not that fast. Also it’s the most delicious when it’s in sprout form, try it if you have the chance. Anyway.) Apparently it has something to do with a legend of the village.

Madleomon yells out to the darkness, asking just who do they think he is?! He is the leader of the Green Zone! (That’s really starting to sound like a Sonic the Hedgehog level to me. Anyone?) Anyway, apparently he said something Tactimon wanted to hear, and Tactimon lets him have yet another chance.

Dorurumon and Cutemon comment on the situation when suddenly Dorurumon realizes he’s talking to himself. Meanwhile, Jijimon tells that the day the bamboo sprouts come up from the faults the village will be swallowed up. “That’s just like an alternate world, they’ve got everything,” comments Akari. But it’s a little too soon for the legend to be coming true and the number of bamboo sprouts is too great… but anyway they realize they’ve got to save Zenjirou, who is apparently afraid of heights. What are they going to do? “Climb it of course,” says Taiki. But before he gets the chance…

Kiriha appears, telling them they shouldn’t bother with that. The gang of course expresses surprise at seeing another human and Shoutmon comments that Kiriha must be the human he’s heard rumors about. Akari immediately asks Kiriha if he knows a way home, but as the camera shows he looks right through her and straight to Taiki, offering to help him with Mailbirdramon. Taiki, without a response, begins to climb the bamboo shoot again. When asked what he’s doing, Taiki replies that they don’t need any help because Kiriha doesn’t seem like the type that would actually be of help to them. (Burn!)

Kiriha calls Taiki “sharp” (I think he actually means “blunt” or “scathing“) and explains himself more thoroughly. He really meant that the only way they will be saved is if they join him, otherwise they will die. He explains that the Bagura army was the one who caused the bamboo shoots to rise, they are coming, and there is nowhere to run. As Madleomon appears, realizing that he’s gotten a rare opportunity after failing twice before, Kiriha goes on to say that he’s been wanting someone who has the same crossloader power as him, and if they work together, they can get a “gold crown.”

Taiki, needless to say clueless, asks what a gold crown is and Kiriha offers to explain in his mocking tone before Shoutmon takes over shouting that Taiki is HIS general and isn’t going to be working for Kiriha, and thus the battle begins. The team is knocked about as Akari is shocked at the roughness of Kiriha’s Digimon and Shoutmon asks Taiki to use Digicross, but he instead calls them back explaining that what’s really important is saving Zenjirou and the residents of the village so they don’t have time to mess around with Kiriha. Kiriha asks if those are his parting words (looking up the word he used in my dictionary and realizing it can also be used for “breakup” amused me a bit I have to admit) and Taiki says they are. He tells Kiriha he doesn’t want to get close to him since he senses something dark about him. Kiriha calls Taiki “sharp” again, accepts this, and leaves… I believe with the words that if Taiki changes his mind he can let out a scream. (...)

Shoutmon asks permission to fight to defend the village, and Taiki of course agrees. Digicross! Madleomon announces that this is the final battle and Kiriha from above, still watching Taiki, says they should just give up already. Nene appears, and after Kiriha asks her “You again, what do you want?” and she replies that she likes looking at strong men, referring to Taiki below. “That’s too bad, this one’s still weak,” says Kiriha. Nene replies coyly, “Oh really?”

Taiki and Akari gather up the villagers when Cutemon, jumping into Akari’s arms, finally shows up to help too (as apparently he hates sadness as well). Dorurumon comes out of the woodwork to help the fight as well, explaining that he won’t stand for anyone that hurts Cutemon. (It seems that Dorurumon and Cutemon will have a backstory.) While Dorurumon entrusts Cutemon to Akari, Taiki realizes he’s seen Dorurumon before in his dream (SEE, Taiki does totally remember his dream, aha).

But his thoughts are interrupted by Zenjirou (oh yeah, him, right he‘s still in this episode) who explains that, “It’s all over” the village is as good as gone, there’s bamboo shoots everywhere, the ground is even GLOWING! Wait… glowing? Taiki suddenly remembers something Kiriha told him earlier about Bagura using a Digimon running energy under the ground to make the bamboo shoots, and the light bulb goes on in his head. Taiki Digicrosses a sword, telling Zenjirou to throw it into the light, stating that he must defeat the Digimon under the ground to rid them of the bamboo shoots. So that happens.

Madleomon turns to final mode and Shoutmon and Ballistamon are in trouble when suddenly Taiki remembers he can use Dorurumon as well. Enter Shoutmon x3 (somewhat against Dorurumon’s will ahaha). So the day is saved thanks to Shoutmon x3, and Zenjirou as well as Taiki goes to help him up, calling him their lifesaver. However, Zenjirou brushes his efforts off onto Taiki, saying he lost to him (so I guess this ends their short-lived rivalry, heh awwwww. Still adorkable those two.)

“I never thought I‘d actually see him get out of that,” says Kiriha as he flies away on Mailbirdramon. “Just as I thought, I want him.” (WHAT. WHAAAAT? THAT‘S WHAT HE SAYS REALLY.)

Shoutmon complains about the sudden disappearance of Cutemon and Dorurumon but Taiki is sure they’ll meet again. More important than that right now, he’s decided their name: Cross Heart! As the others mull over it he explains that he got the idea from Kiriha, seeing him Digicross his Digimon without heart, he wants their team to be different and have what Kiriha's lacks.

Now that, that has been settled, they finally take notice the odd object spinning in front of them. This is the perfect time to have Nene appear, introduce herself, and inform them it’s a “gold crown.” She offers to explain about that--TO BE CONTINUED.

Closing thoughts:
-Akari and Zenjirou both complain in this episode when Taiki asks them to help with the fight. Heaven forbid they actually you know, DO something. But surely this is to show progress for when they eventually come around to being full team members.
-The writers, THEY KNOW. THEY KNOW DIGIMON HAS FANGIRLS. Just really, come on now XD
