Cleaning mini-frenzy

Dec 02, 2008 07:02

It's unusual, but pleasant, to have any energy for cleaning this time of year (during the Dark Days). But my honorary big brother TM came over yesterday with his sister's pickup truck. Four boxes of giveaway stuff went to Goodwill, two big bags of magazines and some books to the Friends of the Library sale table, and some warped lumber, dead blinds and curtain rods, and old plastic trash cans went to the dump. (I have one big rolling trashcan that's looking for a home, BTW -- nearly new, but I can't use it since the City has us all using Official Trashcans now.)

Not only that, the curtain rod destroyed by the Energizer Kitten is back up (she actually managed to rip the little bracket right out of the wall) and so is the towel rail in the bathroom, which had a wobbly-screws problem. Yay for competent handybrothers!

I have hopes of a local organizer to work with me regularly -- I e-mailed her through her webpage, but she hasn't answered yet. :( Along with losing more weight (32 pounds now) by next year, I'd like to get my belongings reorganized. Quite a job, but I know it can be done a little at a time. I am determined NOT to grow up to be one of those Little Old Ladies with a house full of cats and old newspapers. The cats are welcome, the old newspapers are not!
