My standard answer when anyone asks me how the kitten is doing is "She's still bouncing off the walls!"
Most recently, she has discovered that she can start in the bathroom, gallop into the living room, and with the resulting momentum, launch herself from the floor, touch down briefly on the desk, and continue the leap up to the top of the bookcase and the top of the air conditioner (all of 2 inches wide). From there she can easily stretch up and investigate the corner where the walls meet the ceiling. There must be something fascinating up there in cat terms, but I can't see what it is. Cobwebs, I expect ;)
Recently I've been doing a few stretching exercises when I get home from work, which involve lying on the floor. This makes her very happy because she can nuzzle my chin and sit on my chest and generally demonstrate that she's glad to see me. She is also very prompt about settling down next to me on the bed at bedtime.
I think I mentioned that she loves to ricochet around in the bathtub, which disturbs my landlord (in the other half of the duplex) because she makes thumping noises right by the head of his bed, early in the morning when he's still trying to sleep. So far, pins and adhesive tape in a few places have mostly kept her out of there, but it's kind of a nuisance and I'm looking for a better solution. I ran into one of my across-the-alley neighbors yesterday who asked, "Why not just keep some water in the tub?" So I am off today to buy the best-sealing tub stopper I can find. I'm skeptical but it's worth a try. Ultimately I may have to move the cat box into the garage and have the landlord cut a cat door, which would mean I could close her out of the bathroom entirely, but I'm reluctant to do that unless I have to.
