National Theatre

Just got back from John's talk at the National Theatre - fantastic event!

I've been hyper all day despite xmakesmewonder pulling out at the last minute (crazy person). As we arrived at Waterloo I was already singing You can't stop the beat, to which I only know two lines, but still love the song! :D We then ran up to the balcony at the National Theatre, where we continued being generally hyper but I was disappointed to see no-one as hyper as me dancing on tables and singing. Then we went in and one of my friends pointed out we weren't allowed to take photos but I ignored that to begin with as soon as John walked in.

I don't remember all that was said - only a few bits. Most of it was said in his scottish accent which was gorgeous!
Carole: I remember locking John in a closet.
John (interrupting): And finally I came out! (Throws arms wide)

Lots of things about John's upbringing in Scotland - he repeated the story about Murn hitting his teacher and acted it out (playing the part of Murn, with Carole as the teacher)

Kaye Adams (the chair person) then asked him when he knew he was gay and he told the story about "I looked at the man and got an erection". He then thought it was very funny that people had laughed at 'erection' and preceded to say "so? Most men get them!" "But, you know, I was nine years old, it was like huh, what do i do with this?" *laughter* "Oh come on, you've all done it, maybe a bit differently!"

He made Scott come up to the stage from the stalls and "talk into my chest" and said Scott didn't really understand all the celebrity and it "wasn't his thing".

When asked what it was like to work with David Tennant (by a member of the audience) he went on about how fantastic he was, and they lived in the same building etc. Then he said "What, was I gonna say he was shit?"

We managed to quite quickly join the queue for autographs, and then I creeped round to see if John had appeared yet. At the FRONT of the queue I met a friend from primary school, and preceded to tell her all about my trips to Cardiff and to see him in panto. she said "Oh, you're a real fan then" "Have you heard the word stalker?" At which point Scott walked out of the lift behind her and I cracked up.

Queued for what felt like a long time but was really probably not very long and continued doing my two lines of Can't stop the beat. Loads of people were watching me - I don't think I realised quite how hyper I was being.

Eventually got to John and I told him I'd been to see him in Aladdin and thought it was fantastic. (really need to think of something else to say) and asked Carole didn't she get fed up with John getting the attention all the time? She said "No, I can still control him" and laughed.

It was Scott, I couldn't resist!

Then preceded to take lots of photos (on my photobucket account) and danced/sang all the way home, including a VERY funny game of Unlikely things to hear... and changing the words to the school song. Until the next time! (the tour!)
