today they are test running the new R160's on the N line. While im stoked on how great of a train they will be, i am bummed to see my favorite train car in the exsisting fleet go...the slant R40's from the 1960's:
the chicago trains are cool looking from what i've seen (since i have yet to ride them) they go to alot of the same train car manufacturers the MTA did. this particular CTA car is from the 70's. Are these still in service? because i think the doors are really awesome.
wait so that picture i sent is that one of the cars in the current fleet? and also, when the doors open, they dont go inside the walls of the train, they just swing into the car of the train? that's poor design if so.
wow no wonder you hate them haha. that's retarded...i guess i dont like those doors anymore.
our newer trains have that where it lights up what stop you're on right on the map and there is also a computerized voice telling you where you are. which is convienient but sometimes i worry that conductors will be phased out and i really like the personality some of them have when they announce stops and transfers. The new 160's they are testing today will have a screen showing every stop name and connecting transfers...i guess the little light up thing wasn't good enough...spoiled New Yorkers!!!
now you're getting too high tech...haha.... although that might work in chicago since you only have a couple of lines, NYC would have lights lit up all over the place and everyone would be confused haha
