And so it now happens that we have two new additions to the class...
Giant African Land Snails...
The kids miraculously named the snails within about 30 seconds, without arguing once. It kinda went like this...
Kid 1:"We could call one Gary like in Spongebob"
Kid 2:"Yeah that's a good idea"
Kid 3:"We could call the other one Shelly"
Several kids:"Shelly, yeah, Gary and Shelly"
Me:"Sounds good to me!"
And there we have it... Gary and Shelly the classroom snails.
I did point out to them that you don't get boy snails or girl snails, you just get snails. But they have still decided that Shelly is on the girl's side and Gary is on the boy's.
I was really pleased with how the kids responded to having them in the class... the most excited kids were probably the ones with the most problems, they came up with some really good questions too, I was so impressed...
G: "How long do they usually live for?"
D: "Do they lay eggs?"
J: "Do they eat fruit? What temperature do they need and would they be better near a window?"
You could've fucked me sideways... little sods... see they do have brains in there somewhere!
