Today, as the tiny, yellow flowers daringly popped their necks out of the ground in my backyard, I witnessed puppy love in it's first and second stages.
She looked mostly at the ground, he mostly tried to look confident. She wore green and he wore blue and from the second I saw them I knew it was first love. They leaned towards one another, keenly awaiting the words that spilled from their timid smiles. Her foot was a fixture for her eyes to rest, moving it back and forth to keep her attention. He leaned on a pole for his legs would surely give out from sheer nervousness, and this fact could not be known. He was not ultimately in control, only keeping up the appearance that he was.
It made me smile.
Later, as I approached the hill I saw these two figures lip-locked, in passionate embrace. It was our same two love birds from before! I wouldn't spy, for it was not my business to. Still out of the corner of my eye, I could have sworn I saw the light of adoration and amity that surrounded the two, whom at that moment, I would be correct in stating, were one.
With this vision, completely true in their singularity and rapport, I need no other sign that spring is sincerely upon us.
