Shine and I each bought bikes yesterday. We've been talking about buying bikes for a while, but the idea never left the apartment. After riding around the neighborhood for ten minutes, I realized 1)I'm SO out of shape, my quads started to burn and my legs felt like jelly 2) I haven't ridden a bike since my early high school, pre-car days and 3) I've never purchased a bike before because, when I was younger, my Dad paid for my stuff. Then came the flood of memories around my Dad teaching me and my brother how to ride. My banana seat bike. My 10-speed. My brother and I riding around the reservoir, to school, to the arcade, to our friends' houses. Such happy memories. And now I'm back in the biker's seat for the first time in 15 years. I feel like a kid again.
