James Dean
I went to Avalon and Spundae last nite. Had a fantastic time onE. =) Sander played great music. Boy! This weekend has been very self-abusive/destructive. Fuck it. I'd been so good for the past month, refusing to do the usual go-out-every-nite-and-drink-as-much-as-possible route, not wanting to make getting over him a priority. So I went on a bit of a substance binge this weekend...nothing wrong with that! Halloween was a drunken blur. Last nite, I think I lost 5 lbs I danced so much. As usual, it was only a temporary fix. =/ In any case, it was the first time in a long while that I'd been in the electronic scene. Dave Dean was eager to show me what he did to Avalon. The Spider Room is so gorgeous with its Moroccan theme. I loved it. So glamourous and comfortable at the same time. Vince Vaughan chillin' in one corner, Deep Dish chillin' in another. The sound is finally good and the lighting high-tech and expensive. I used to hate The Palace, but as Avalon it's MUCH better. Go, Dave, Go. Of course I bumped into alot of ppl who haven't seen hide nor hair of me for months. Inevitably, the boyfriend question came up repeatedly. One particular conversation was notable.
Vic: "Hey!! Haven't seen you in ages! Was just thinking about you...how are things with the boyfriend?"
Nat: "Hi! Really? How nice. Ummm...we broke up."
Vic: "No! Really? You and James Dean broke up? Sorry 'bout that."
Nat: "James Dean?? *smiles* That's quite a compliment."
Vic: *shrug* "Well, you must be all right. You're finally out again!"
I couldn't stop smiling. James Dean. So fitting. Shine IS an Asian James Dean. Gorgeous. Stylish. Eyes squinting as he smoked his cigarettes. Cool hair, cool demeanor, cool posture...just cool. Guarded. A rebel. Tragic. And perhaps lost to me forever.
