Well, I’m a little tipsy so I may be a little incoherent...Just came back from Boston Pizza and well...drank what seems like a boatload of Cabernet Sauvignon from South Africa. I’m noticing that I have been liking Cabernet Sauvignons now for a while. They taste light and caramely. But I don’t know the first thing about wine... It’s 7 bucks a glass but it comes in a mini caraf...OMG Archie was set in the 1950s?! Wahhh? Sorry, I’m watching TV. Anyway so there was a lot of wine which helped cause supper was not so great (don’t order the tuscan linguini).
I’m rocking out in my hotel room which THANK GOD is much better than the one I had yesterday. I was stuck staying in a Junior Suite for the first night. When I got here yesterday, I was really unimpressed with the hotel service. The Junior Suite part of the hotel is in a different building across the frigging street. They told me my room would only be ready in 2 hours, despite the fact that I was past checking in time. The kid at the desk basically told me to leave. Sigh.
I took advantage of whatever was left of daylight time to go exploring. The shuttle driver at the hotel recommended that I go to Pilot’s Point in what they call Old Yellowknife. So I set out and walked into Old Yellowknife and made it all the way to Pilot’s Point. The view was great but my GOD was it ever windy! The wind here is absolute death. Yes, it is a dry cold. -20 here feels like between -5 or -10. But when the wind picks up (which it does several times during the day) it feels cryogenic. When I got out of the plane yesterday the wind gusts were terrible. Like most small airports, you have to get out of the plane and walk to the airport. Just in that small walk outside, my eyes were gushing tears which froze my eyelids together! I grabbed my suitcase in no time (for once) and hailed a cab. I asked him to give me the scenic route. Heck, it’s not like he was gonna say no. He was really nice and was very informative.
Anyway I got a lot of pics :) aaaaaand videos. I’m about to pass out now, so good night!
