Just as I was hoping the night ended up on a much sweeter note....well salty and greasy, more like. After the show, instead of going for gelato we decided to go to the Elgin Street Diner, which made more sence because Raph hadn't eaten. I had the best grilled cheese of my life.
The show itself was amazing! Raph managed to arrive at quarter to six so we took the car (we were too late to take the bus). We found parking right beside the Bronson Center and were among the first ten in line, which meant....second row baby!!! Amazing. I sat right where I imaged myself sitting. The opening act was great: a guy on the piano and another on the guitar. The guitar sound was very similar to what Daniel Lanoie (an acadian singer-sonwriter and producer) creates...ethereal-like. He was very classy looking, reminicent of the 50s in his dress and singing. One thing that I really liked was that Sarah included them in her band during her show. Other members of the band were an amazing drummer, who managed to really impress Raph, and a double-bassist, which looked like a bum. Pretty funny. Even more funny was when he sang, his eyebrows would raise dramatically when his voice hit higher notes. It was as though he was only capable of two facial expressions: eyebrows up; eyebrows down. The drummer looked like he was in constant orgasm...which may explain why he's so talented. As to Ms. Slean herself, well, every show, she gets more and more amazing. This being show no. 4 for me. It neat to see how she evolves, grows up. She's actually only a few days younger than Raph. In her songs, you can tell she's getting worried about not finding her love and a place to settle in. It seems like she's the type who hears her "clock" ticking.
She looked and sounded amazing. Her voice is incredible. The whole show was a gem and I'm so glad Raph got to see it.
