Lots of unexpected things happened on this trip. Good things of course. For example, I never thought that I would get drunk off my ass and party hard in a bar with a bunch of people from various parts of Europe. I never felt so cosmopolite...and drunk. After eating our poutine, Janni and I and some of her friends decided to go out for drinks in a nice little bar. The music was good, but strange for that kind of place....hard industrial dance-like music in a punk rock looking bar (crowd included). At two am, the place closed so we headed out to La fleche d'or for some dancing. The place is not easy to get into. The bouncers are so facking full of themselves. You have to make sure the group includes LOTS of girls to increase your chances of getting in. We had lots of girls and so were allowed in after being stared at for a long while from under the bouncer's full-of-himself nose....*rolls eyes* The bar was so nice and unpretentious. The coolest thing was hearing music I had never heard before. Most of the night was spent chatting with misc guys at the bar and our group of friends. When our group left, I realised we hadn't danced yet and so Janni and I and random guy hit the dance floor for the last half hour of dancing. Oh man did we dance hard. We jumped on the stage and well, just had a blast. Too bad there weren't many people left. I felt so dizzy, I thought I was gonna projectile vomit across the room but drunk logic told me to keep dancing anyway. Then the bouncer told us to leave because the bar was closed. For some reason that is beyond me, we ended up taking with random guy and another random guy for over an hour in front of the bar. We talked and saw the sun rise. It was good for sobering up a little bit. The guy talking with me was so into me it was hilarious. I mentioned that I studied Rabelais and you could see him fall in love at the moment....It was like 'Oh, you foreigner! you like French culture, even the obscure stuff! Let's kiss.' .....or something. Whatever! lol
We managed to pull away from the group and walked home, bought a bagette on the way, ate it at home and then crashed to bed at 8 am....holy shit. Never done that in my life :) I love what this place is doing to me.
Needless to say, the entire Sunday was spent sleeping and recovering from last night's excesses. Like every morning after, I vowed to never get that drunk again. We slept until 5 pm. Another new record for me. We never even left the apartment and stayed in to watch Frida, a movie that I have wanted to see for a long time.
