Summary: The T-Twins meet their match...
Kouhei and Youhei were minding their own business as always. Which of course meant their heads were bent over a pair of DSes as they walked side by side, conversation over what had happened in class as well as whether they were going to trade between games or not going on silently between them. And so, when Youhei’s shoulder hit something, they both stopped and turned to look, identical glares on their faces at the offending student. What’s wrong with him? Kouhei asked.
Who knows, was Youhei’s reply before he finally spoke aloud to the person who so rudely bumped into him. Nevermind that he was the one that hadn’t been paying attention. “Do you have a problem?”
Yukimura had been carrying a rather large stack of art books, trying his best to take care of where he was going. Usually the other students he met noticed his plight and stepped aside... But one person apparently didn't notice and even though Yukimura tried to sidestep, they bumped into each other. He was about to ask if the other was all right, when he suddenly found the Tanaka twins glaring at him. Any excuses or worried questions he might have had died away and instead he smiled, coldly. "No more than you."
Once again the twins’ expressions shifted in unison, this time raising their eyebrows in surprise that this person (one they hadn’t seen in classes; must be one of their senpai) would dare to turn it back on them. “Then excuse you,” they said at the same time, before Kouhei looked down at a sound from his DS and frowned.
“I died,” he complained flatly, and moved to switch the game off entirely.
“Your fault,” Youhei pointed out, still looking at their senpai. “You’re a senior, aren’t you? Shouldn’t you be looking out for your kohai?” Because obviously ensuring that their games went well was part of that responsibility.
"I take a note to take care of those who are considerate towards others," Yukimura said calmly, arms crossed. "Kouhai, senpai... Does it matter?" He smiled, only a small tug a the corners of his mouth and nothing that even remotely reached his eyes. "You should apologize."
“Of course it matters,” they both protested. Being the kouhai meant they didn’t have to care. But that last part brought glares to them again.
“I’m not going to apologize for you bumping into me. Besides, you’re fine, but you killed Kouhei.” Youhei added, setting a hand on his brother’s shoulder. Really, senpai should be more considerate.
My. How incredibly immature. They were almost amusing, Yukimura thought. So... The bluehaired twin was Kouhei, then? The magenta haired one had to be... Oh, what was his name? He couldn't remember. Maybe it didn't matter. No. Of course it didn't matter. "It's so easy to lose control when you're in an unfamiliar environment, isn't it?"
This time the twins’ expressions differed. While Kouhei was still looking unamused about his game, the wording made Youhei a little worried, as if there was more behind that statement than another shift of blame. “...What’s your power?” he asked suspiciously, hoping that this senpai wasn’t some kind of mutant that really would lose his control from bumping into someone.
"What's yours?" Yukimura shot back, leaning easily against a wall.
Raising their chins in unison again, the twins spoke at the same time to prove their simple answer. “Telepathy,” they answered simply. Sure there was more to that... and more limitation than it suggested, but that was unnecessary information.
"Related to my power, then." Telepathy? It didn't surprise him. The old wive's tale about special bonds between twins and all. Were these two identical or fraternal? Their hair colors differed, and there were small, small signs that were different... But the hair could be dyed and the differences could be nearly invisible scars that morphed their skin structure a little. He wasn't sure. "Sense control."
While the twins expected something like a mind reader after that first part, which would have been annoying, they both paled at the real answer. While it didn’t sound terribly bad in itself, sense control hit much too close to home for the twins. For once they actually looked at each other, mental contact not quite enough for them to feel reassurance in their mutual unease, and when they looked back at the senior it was with wariness that had them leaning back a bit. “...How so?” The twins after all had another power; sense discernment, something that sounded like it could go horribly wrong in this senpai’s presence. They had never had someone try to mess with their usually extremely accurate senses before.
Yukimura didn't move. He simply looked at the two of them, five seconds his eyes rested on Youhei. A blink, and then his eyes were on Kouhei for another five seconds, and then he somehow managed to give the impression that he was looking both of them straight in the eyes. He reached out mentally, sensing their brains, sensing their visual cortex, and he stressed it, gently. Dimming their vision, giving them tunnel vision for a couple of seconds, before he pulled back. And then, he smiled. "Like so."
With the help of their telepathy, the twins knew just how strange this was already. How could this person be looking at both of them at once? Kouhei shivered; their senses were never wrong, and yet this was obviously not right. It was like they were suddenly looking at a recording, and he reached out to Youhei, just to make sure they were in fact still in real life. And then things got dark, and started caving in, and his grip on Youhei’s arm went so tight his brother winced.
Youhei didn’t stop him though, he was too busy panicking with him, and reached up with his hand as if he could rub the tunnel vision from his eyes. When it stopped, he looked to the senpai wild-eyed and took a step back, pulling his brother with him. “Don’t do that!”
"You asked." The older blue hair shrugged. "And... I'm still waiting for your apology, my dear kouhai-tachi." He nodded at the books he had placed beside him on the floor. "It wouldn't do if I dropped them, you see."
Kouhei had managed less of a death grip, although he was still tense, and those words made him frown. He looked to Youhei again, who glanced back before scowling at their senpai. Youhei shuffled on his feet again, not wanting to give into this evil senpai, but not really wanting to make an enemy out of someone who could do bad, bad things to them (in their opinion) either. “...I’m sorry,” he ground out dully, but then gave him even more of a stubborn glare again, “But Kouhei’s not because he didn’t even do anything.” You still killed him, he thought at the evil senpai, but knew that it wouldn’t work because their telepathy only worked on each other.
"Kouhei-kun can speak for himself, can't he?" Yukimura tsked. "But fair enough. Apology accepted. But you really shouldn't be walking and gaming at the same time; it's dangerous to both you and the people around you. And... It's rather selfish."
Kouhei scowled too at that, crossing his arms over his chest. “I can, but Youhei knows what I’m thinking so it’s the same if he says it,” he pointed out, wondering how stupid his senpai could be. Not that he wanted Youhei to say that for him.
Youhei however was wondering what was selfish about playing games. “...Why, are you jealous and want to play too?” he asked in confusion. He waved his DS a bit before continuing, “This thing has multiplayer wi-fi, so if anyone wants to play with us they can. If they have a DS.” Not that he really wanted to play with evil senpai now.
Yukimura was, to be honest, a little behind on games and wi-fi and whatnot over all, but he wasn't about to admit to that. (He basically had an understanding for computer terms thanks to his friendship with Sanada, or he would be left completely in the cold...) "If I wanted to play, I wouldn't do it when walking through a crowded corridor. But I thank you for the suggestion." His lips curled in a pointed smile. "I don't have a DS, though. You can relax."
Youhei tried to shrug like he didn’t care, but he did just that and relaxed a bit anyway, looking somewhere off to the side of his senpai’s shoulder. “Your loss,” he said breezily, and didn’t need to tug Kouhei to let him know they should start leaving. Kouhei took a step to the side while Youhei inclined his head just a little bit, remembering how this evil senpai had messed with his vision before. “We’ll see you, senpai.” As much as they hoped not to.
"Aa." Yukimura nodded and waved pleasantly. "Take care, and do watch where you're going in the future, hm?" He picked his books back up and started in the opposite direction of the twins, humming to himself.
The twins felt a chill run down their spines at that last farewell, the threat in those words making them hurry to put distance between them by going in the opposite direction, where for once Kintarou seemed like good company to Kouhei.
