To sweeten the deal, they will be taken on a school trip (from Dec 24- 28, 4 nights)to a charming mountain retreat with excellent natural hotsprings…. or so they were told ( Read more... )

He should have stayed in Paris a little longer. This was intolerable. It made him want to do things that would ruin his good boy image. How dare the school use them for menial labor when they had done nothing to deserve it. At least there was a hot spring, for when the temperature plummeted below freezing and they were all getting frostbite.

At the moment, he wasn't using them at all. Instead, he was contemplating what it would take to sneak out. He could touch someone...throw some light around to make his new self vanish...hitch hike back to civilization... He sat on a rock and continued to formulate his plan.

Chinen let out a long tired sigh as he walked into the area that held the hot springs. It had been a long grueling day with a ridiculous amount of work that had to be done to put the run down onsen back into working order. Thankfully, due to everyone's teamwork and determination to fix the eyesore, they had finished everything and were now finally free to actually enjoy the fruits of their labor. However, thanks to doing all that work, all of Chinen's muscles were now aching badly, so he opted for making good use of the hot springs that they had come here to enjoy in the first place where he could soak it all away ( ... )

Hiroshi turned slightly to glance at the other Hiroshi. He didn't even bother to look away. They had been roommates for a while. He had the unpleasant joy of seeing the other man naked on many occasions. It didn't bother him. And honestly, being French, it had never really bothered him in the first place.

"Seems so. You do know that no matter how you scrub, you'll still be here. Pity really. It would be a real shame if you didn't darken my path at any given moment."

Kitchen

Food! Also possibly one of the few warm places.

Kabaji stared at the kitchen in silence. It was... He couldn't think of words bad enough to describe the shape everything was in. How were they supposed to eat? How were they even supposed to cook?!

He frowned a little and ran his large finger through the dust leaving a trail.

Well...abilities were supposed to be encouraged, right? It wouldn't be cheating to use his...

With quiet motions, he started to write in the layer of dust. A list of all the things a kitchen needed, plus some. He'd never done a list before. Usually, it was one thing at a time. But he was going to give it a go.

Jackal made his way to the kitchen, face scrunched at the appearance of the place. The whole building was in shambles, kitchen included. No heat, no electricity, light only from the oil lamps he'd lit, including the one he placed on the kitchen counter.

Seeing Kabaji writing something, he peered around the larger man. A list... And Jackal thought he remembered Kabaji's power being some form of conjuring... "I volunteer to play the part of the stove," he offered with a grin, glad that he could make himself useful somehow (other than being the walking space heater, of course). "I'm getting really good at keeping my fires consistent. Perfect for cooking."

The larger man jumped a little. A place like this could very well be haunted. But it wasn't a ghost, it was a Brazilian. It made him smile to see the man. "Kuwahara-san..." He spoke after his heart started to beat again. "You will? Thank you so much. I..I don't know how I was going to cook...without heat. I could...could make a stove...but it might not run.."

He turned back to his list and took a breath. Took a breath and started to list it all off out loud. Before them, pots, pans, knives, plates and all sorts of other kitchen implements started to appear one after another. As he neared the end of the list, Kabaji was growing a bit breathless. Too much all at one time. Last time he did this was when he made all the stalls for the school fair. After that, he had slept for days.

"I...think...that's everything. Un..unless you can think of anything I forgot..."

Time to chop firewood!

He knew this was for the students, but sometimes he really wondered about the head mistress. He believed in hard work and making due. He's lived through the Depression and a world war.But he still wasn't too keen on this idea. Especially since he had been dragged out there as well. He was certain it was because he had the most knowledge about a lot of things. 90 plus years of experiences did that to a person.

At the moment, Tsuge had been sharpening the ax he had used a week or so ago to fell the two Christmas trees. All that was left was to chop wood. He considered letting the students have a go at it, but questioned his own sanity at letting any fo the youngsters have an ax.

Instead, the large man set himself up for what was going to be a very nice night of chopping firewood.

"Hey, Tsuge-sensei!" Atsushi called out as he stepped out of the brush. He was certain that the other man had heard him rustling around as he'd put his clothes back on, but it was polite to call out and confirm it. Besides, he had a feeling that the older teacher could help him out. "Ryou and I...found something in the forest and were wondering if you know how to dress a deer? Ryou went to let the guys in the kitchen know."

He reached down and pulled the tarp they'd brought with them across the snow towards Tsuge, the smell of blood fresh in the air.

He raised an eyebrow and rested the ax on one shoulder. Kids these days. Couldn't even do a simple thing like that. What was the world coming to? But he supposed that was why Ryuuzaki had insisted he come with. He had lived in a time when you did things like that for yourself all the time.

"You found something, did you? Atta-boys!" He knew what the boys were, just as he was certain that the cats knew what he was. Beasts could smell beasts, even if he kept the berzerker in him on a very tight leash. "Ab-so-lutely." He confirmed and then watched the tarp.

"Though I think we need to move it back out to the woods. Don't want any nancies seeing this and upchuck." Dressing a deer was not for the light hearted after all.

Living area

Has an old-fashioned charcoal kotatsu, some board games and books.

Taki sank to the floor next to the kotatsu, still in shock from the horrors they'd learned upon arrival. This trip...this lovely school funded trip to an onsen was a complete nightmare. This place was fit for being condemned and that was about it.

"Someone tell me this is all some giant practical joke or a nightmare," he said to no one in particular as he looked around the disaster of a place they were supposed to stay at.

Saitou walked around the living area, surveying everything and taking note of anything that needed fixing. Along with the rest of the building, it was seeming that they would definitely have their hands full with chores that needed to be done before they could even think of enjoying themselves. That was if they even had the time or energy to do so by the time they went to bed tonight. Though hearing one of his students' complaints over matters, he paused in his task to answer them. "I'm afraid not, Taki-kun. What you see is what we unfortunately are stuck with for the time we're here. Though I suppose we probably should have done a better job of checking into the condition of this place before we got here." The teacher admitted with an unhappy sigh. But then again, certain things like electricity and running water were usually expected when one made plans to travel somewhere ( ... )

Taki looked up at the teacher, doing his best to keep from glaring. This wasn't exactly what he'd been expecting and a few minutes to take it all in shouldn't be a big deal. Not in comparison to the situation in general. Besides, he was only saying what everyone else was surely thinking.

"I understand, Saitou-sensei," he replied, doing his best to try and stay calm in this situation. It was hard to though when they were essentially on a camping trip and he'd been mentally prepared for an onsen trip.

Sleeping area

Futons are laid out next to each other. Time for a pillow fight?

He really should have gone home for the holidays. But on the other hand, there was dealing with family, and at least here, he wasn't as bothered, if it was a good day and nobody approached him. Hiyoshi wasn't too put off with the cleaning and maintenance imposed upon them all, since it was things he'd do at home anyways, but just when he thought his opinion of the school couldn't drop any lower...

Well. There was always the excuse of "turning in early for the night." Every day. All day. Even if it was currently in the middle of the afternoon. Thank goodness for books.

Nearby, half-dangling out of the window that was letting in freezing cold air, Mizuki was making it impossible for anyone to get any rest by relentlessly beating the dust out of a couple of futons. There was no way he would sleep in any of these dirty things! When was the last time they had been cleaned or aired out? He coughed a little from the dust and cold air.

Hiyoshi stifled a sneeze with the crook of his elbow, frowned into it, and wondered if there were any tissues left that weren't already reserved for cleaning duty. If the cold didn't do him in in the end, the dust certainly will. Pushing away from the musty warmth his body heat had lent to the futon he was trying to hide in, he left to approach Mizuki from behind. "Please close the windows, senpai," he said, stopping a few paces short as to avoid direct confrontation with the dust storm, "or I'm going to have to kick you through and close them myself."
