After receiving Kaidoh's message, Chinen gave a small frown. That series of comments had admittedly been the most emotional he had been with anyone at this school so far. Something he had been wanting to keep from being that way for a good while, but when angry about having someone potentially suing you later over being poisoned, you couldn't help your emotions. As such, he had freaked out accordingly. He hadn't expected to actually meet the mutant with the poison immunity anytime soon, though. But he supposed if there was anytime to cross paths with them, it was in the process of finding his rather intelligent spider. He didn't need his angry tarantula biting people, but he knew she was going to if someone touched her.
...And so that was exactly what happened thanks to her escaping. She got out, she bit someone, and now that someone wanted him to meet them somewhere. In the greenhouse, no less. He actually liked that place. It was quiet and full of plants that made for far more interesting company than most of the people he had met here so far. Why the hell did they have to choose that location? I like that location. He thought to himself as he made his way. It being warmer for the spider wasn't a good enough excuse for it to even register properly in his mind. He didn't want to remember the location as somewhere he was fighting with someone again when he liked it and that was all that truly came to mind.
Of all of the strange people to come in and bother him while he was sleeping away the cold air in the hot sauna room, Kaidoh had to admit the most unusual by far had to have been the large blue spider. He wasn’t angry about being bitten, he admittedly deserved it when he panicked and swatted at it. Under those circumstances, he would have probably attacked as well. Once the spider had finished biting him a few times while he tried to secure it and get a better look, it had calmed down and taken refuge in the heated hood of his jacket and seemed to have calmed down significantly enough for him to post about his odd find. He did not, however, expect the grumpy guy to freak out about venom. Frankly, aside from the wounds hurting from the skin being broken, he felt fine.
Once a location had been chosen, he gathered the rather odd looking spider and cradled the jacket in his arms and started the chilly walk to the greenhouse, each step growing more and more difficult. He hated having to be seen without his jacket, knowing that his scales showed down both forearms, even if the wraps around them covered the majority of them along with his deadly spines. Well, the three remaining ones on his right arm as the left ones were slow to heal. Reaching the greenhouse, he released a soothed hiss, enjoying the warmth and moisture of the building. He could function here, and hide his weakness from the new student on the off-chance he was somehow aggressive.
As Chinen came upon the greenhouse, he gave it a cautious look. He imagined the other mutant was probably already there waiting for him impatiently, and him idly standing around outside while contemplating why he disliked interacting with most of society wasn't getting things done any more quickly. So with a disgruntled sigh, he opened the door and made his way in, his mood immediately lightening somewhat from the rise in temperature alone.
His attention was quickly taken away from his comfort, however, as he spotted the smaller teen. Simply staring hard at the boy for a moment, he decided the other looked safe enough to come closer and get a better look at. He also needed to be sure his tarantula was indeed with him and none the worse for wear like promised. For all he knew, he was being messed with in some sort of bullying tactic to get at the 'new kid on campus' and his spider was actually nothing more than a pile of arachnid goo now. And if that was the case, he hoped the head of the school would excuse him for trying to beat her murderer to within an inch of their worthless life in response, but if one thing was certain, he cared more about that tarantula than he did anyone at this school. If someone hurt her, it was like hurting a member of his family, and he didn't take kindly to that.
Thankfully, his worries and silent threats weren't warranted, as the spider turned out to be very much alive and cradled comfortably in a balled up jacket that the other boy held. That in itself gave Chinen curious pause as he wondered how the stranger had even managed to get her to sit still there and without her angrily trying to bite him further. Though that thought process was quickly pushed aside for more curiosity piquing interests when the tall Okinawan noticed the colorful scales on the smaller teen's forearms. "Reptilian..." He thought aloud in fascination, a small intrigued smile starting to creep onto his lips, before suddenly realizing that he was practically gawking at the other student and regained his former composure of indifference once more. "...Can I have my spider back now?" He asked after a minute in an effort to keep things from seeming too awkward.
When the other boy approached, the first thing Kaidoh noticed was the unusual white patch in his hair. He briefly pondered whether it was an aesthetic thing or if he was just too lazy to fix a white spot in his hair. That thought process was interrupted however when he started to approach with what seemed to be a cross of worry and annoyance on his face. Then Kaidoh noticed how much taller the other boy was, and started to feel a little defensive. Still, he stood his ground, careful not to rouse the resting spider who seemed rather at home in the heated hood.
When the stranger reached him, he released a soft hiss, more in annoyance at obviously being stared at. His cheeks heated up a bit, and he lowered his emerald eyes to the ground briefly before they shot back up. “Your mom ever tell you it’s rude to stare?” He growled slightly, trying to push his forearms beneath the jacket, more self-conscious about his scales than he had been in the longest time. It didn’t matter if others thought he was a freak, he had Sanada. Without that safety net though, this was a bit too threatening for him. Carefully reaching into the hood, he scooped his hand beneath the bandana covered heating pad and gently extracted the spider. “Should watch her better.”
Chinen raised an eyebrow when he was snapped at, not quite expecting it but already used to being growled at by this point and knowing he probably still deserved it considering he *had* been gawking. More so than he typically did even. "Regularly." He replied, which was the truth. His mother had been scolding him since he was a toddler for his habit of staring at people. Despite it, he had yet to quit doing so, nonetheless. Not really out of stubbornness necessarily, though his indifference over people disliking it didn't help.
As the spider was offered back to him, he reached his own hand out to try and gently scoop the spider up, which elicited some tarantula hisses from the bug as she tried to ball in upon herself, not wishing to move quite yet. "Osoreko-chan, don't start." The Okinawan muttered in annoyance before the spider allowed herself to finally be picked up. As he cradled Osoreko, he gave the other teen an irritated look for suggesting he wasn't caring for her well enough. "Hard to watch her when she knows how to get out of her cage." Was his grumbled response as he started to back away. He didn't really feel the need to explain himself and his situation with the smart spider to this stranger.
Giving the other male a look as the spider started to act aggressively, he made sure to hold perfectly still, the angry red bites showing clearly on his extended hand. The moment the spider was cleared, he lowered his arm and scratched at the bandages wrapped over the broken spines on his left arm and scowled up at the other. “She probably got cold. The dorms here don’t get warm enough.” His words were meant to be a gentle explanation, but his tone always tended more toward a grumble. Reaching back up, he offered the bandana covered heat pack again. “She seems to like this. So....keep it.”
Chinen couldn't help but go back to staring at the stranger's arms simply out of curiosity, watching as he scratched at his bandages and curiously wondering what caused them. His attention was taken away from them, however, when focus was placed on his pet once again. "Hn. Makes sense." He grunted in reply, raising the spider up to eye level and giving her a cross look for the trouble she had caused. "Her own fault for getting curious and leaving her terrarium, though." Which received another hiss in response, as if the spider understood and was being unappreciative of the comment.
Though when the bandana and heat pack were handed out to him, he frowned and gave it a questioning look, not quite used to having someone completely unknown trying to gift him with something. "...No." He bluntly responded after another moment of staring at the outstretched hand holding the pack. Silently thinking about his abrupt reply and realizing that he probably wasn't coming off as pleasantly as intended, he explained further. "...She doesn't need it. She'll be fine when she gets back to her tank."
“Yeah...well......’least she only got to the dry sauna.” Kaidoh muttered, rather annoyed by the whole exchange, reminding himself yet again why he didn’t trouble himself with talking to others. It was rarely worth the trouble, especially this time. Stuffing the bandana and the pack back in his pocket, he tugged on the heated coat, resisting a pleased shutter at being enveloped in the comforting heat of his jacket.
“Probably go there again if she gets out.” He shrugged his shoulders and stuffed his hands deep in his pocket, looking at the large spider again. While he preferred kittens and puppies, in her own way, the spider was....interesting. It would be wrong to call her cute. “You said she was poisonous. School has a good healer.” He offered up that much by way of a reassurance to the new student.
"I'll keep both of those in mind." Chinen softly muttered as he moved to shove Osoreko into his coat, receiving another louder hiss in response for being roughly manhandled all of a sudden. While he was often prone to making it seem like he was indifferent to a situation, intentionally or not, it was good to know where he was most likely to find the spider again if she got back out; something he was sure she would do if given half a chance. And knowing there was someone to heal all the idiots who weren't lucky enough to have an immunity to poison was also a welcome thought. Maybe it was that kid he had spoken to earlier on his journal who said he worked in the infirmary. He would have to remember to thank him if anyone got poisoned. Even if it was difficult for him to try and thank people at times.
After another length of silence passed between them, and realizing he was starting to stare at the other mutant's scaly arms again, Chinen rubbed his shoulder uncomfortably and started to back away again. "...Should go put her back now." He attempted to excuse himself with, not really knowing what else to say that wouldn't sound even more awkward.
Kaidoh hated awkward silences almost as much as he hated forced conversation, and before long he could feel the other’s eyes on his arms again. Growling, he looked away and tugged the sleeves of the dark green and black jacket over his arms to cover the scales. “They’re scales. Nothing that exciting.” He moved quickly, passing the other boy and heading toward the door. “‘d think a guy in a school of mutants wouldn’t be a dick and stare!”
Chinen watched at the other actually passed him to try and hurry to the door first, making him turn to look at him questioningly for it. The words that came with the action explained things a bit better, however, causing him to sigh internally at his own actions. As usual, he had touched a nerve by choosing to look at something with a bit more interest than someone felt comfortable with. "...Used to being called a dick by people, so I guess I probably am one by society's norm. I stare when I like looking at something, though." He murmured back in reply, not really expecting the other to hear him or stop to listen. "...So your scales must be more exciting than you think." He then turned to head for the other door on the opposite end of the greenhouse, not wishing to trouble the reptilian mutant further or make him think he was trying to bother him. Plus it was best to just leave things be when something like this happened. He was misunderstood for his behavior regularly and he didn't want to make it worse.
For some reason, those words bothered him more than they should have. Perhaps he was still a little raw from his boyfriend leaving, but the fact that someone else liked his scales enough to want to stare at them. That he liked looking at them. It was too much for the still damaged half snake boy. Growling and turning on heel, he swiftly moved to catch the other, grasping his wrist and turning him so they were facing one another again. “I fucking hate them. They are useless.”
Well, that was different. He definitely hadn't been expecting to have someone reach out and grab him, that was for sure, much less by the one who had seemed in a hurry to leave and get away from him just a second ago. As such, he found himself stumbling to regain his balance when the other suddenly stopped him. Grimacing in annoyance at his new scaly acquaintance for a moment over it, he then gave a shrug back in response. "Well, skin usually is pretty useless...aside from keeping your insides inside you." Chinen retorted dryly, unable to keep from teasing the smaller boy a bit for his choice of words, even if he knew what the snake mutant had been trying to convey as a whole. "It's a lot more interesting than the plain skin on my bones, though. Kinda hard not to be curious when considering that."
The small joke was not lost on Kaidoh, but he was unsure how to respond. Eventually he released the other boy and stuffed his hands back in his pockets, where they could be warm and he would be less tempted to throttle anyone. “Yeah. I guess. But normal skin doesn’t get you picked on or make you sick just because it is cold either...” He shook his head and scowled, forcing himself out of his momentary pity party. “Don’t go out that other door. ‘s a man eating plant that way, I think.”
Once again allowed to take his wrist back, he pulled out his other hand to rub at it, causing the tarantula sitting in his pocket to rustle around uncomfortably from the loss of heat that came from his naturally warm Okinawan hands. "I learned a long time ago that anyone who looks or acts different from the crowd gets picked on for that fact alone. People dislike what they don't understand. Human nature, I guess. ...Even if it is fucking stupid." He replied, thinking back on the trouble he had gone through himself through the years for being his own strange self. "Never a reason to hate what makes you stand out, though. Conformity is boring. Whether you're cold blooded and have to put up with a Hokkaido winter or not." He offered the reptilian teen a smile over this, showing a more friendly and playful side than most were lucky enough to see. Something he admittedly wasn't in a hurry to show off normally either, but the kid in front of him was seemingly bringing it out of him despite things. An effect of his curiosity in him, he supposed.
At the mention of the man-eating plant, his smile grew even larger, though. To disturbingly delighted proportions, even, as he turned to look back towards the door he had been trying to head for. "Seriously~?" He asked, not bothering to try and hide the amusement in his voice at all. "That's fucking awesome~" His attention now squarely placed upon the mysterious unknown plant, he moved to head towards the door, completely forgetting in the process that he even had company.
"Don't get eaten. I'll get detention again." Kaidoh offered the barest of smiles, nearly only a twitch in facial muscles more than anything. Deciding he should keep an eye on the other, he hummed slightly. "I think it's still here at least..."
As he reached the door, the other boy's voice brought his attention away from his current fascination back to present company once more. "Well, hopefully having a green thumb and talented hands when it comes to plants will convince it to find its next meal elsewhere~" He replied, a highly curious smile spread across his face as he turned to answer. His focus then immediately returned to the task at hand as he grabbed the handle on the door and pulled it open. "...Besides. Haven't had any problems managing any other deadly plants I've come across, so I'm feeling lucky." Despite saying that, he remained somewhat cautious, poking his head out first to look about before daring to make his way onto the terrace.
“Yeah...just....don’t die.” Kaidoh scratched at the bandages once more and hissed softly. “Might be dormant from the cold....m’gonna have to get back to the sauna.” With something between a smile and a wince, he tugged the dark green jacket back on and pressed the lapel to turn the heat back up. Sighing with relief as he was enveloped in heat, he turned and started back out the opposite door so he could return to his temporary shelter.
As Chinen looked about the area for the elusive plant, still clinging to the open door in case he felt the urge to quickly dart back inside, he suddenly took notice of the reptilian boy leaving again. "Hn? Not coming with?" He asked curiously, but suddenly reminding himself that he wasn't really supposed to be caring about company or interacting with anything human or living, he shrugged it off and returned his attention to his other task while muttering to himself. "Whatever. Suit yourself then." Though, as something of an afterthought and thinking of the rather personal things the other had decided to share with him of all people, he found himself choosing to leave him with some kind parting words. "...Take care of yourself, 'Scales'." He then quickly shut the door behind him, not wanting to embarrass himself further with his niceties. He didn't do it very often, but if there was ever anyone that sounded like they could use it and he could relate to, it was this guy.
