Work work work.
So, I'm a few weeks into my job at Caribou, and I'm really liking it, actually.
I feel bad, though. Joel got really sick and had to have his appendix removed a couple weeks ago, and so I had to take some time off to take care of him. Then this week I got a super bad migraine and left work early yesterday, and didn't go in at all today. I can't miss any more work after today! I don't want them to feel like I'm unreliable.
I really like the people I am working with, and enjoy the work that I'm doing. It feels good. I feel safe there. I don't think I could have found a better manager, and the people I work with are really nice, and the customers are usually friendly. I mean, some days feel ridiculously long, there are rude customers, and when I'm making drinks, if I mess something up I tend to get flustered and can't concentrate so I get kind of behind...but over all, I'd say it's a good job to have. I don't think I could find a job that's as flexible and accommodating as this one, so it'll be good for me while I'm going to school.
PLUS! I made like nearly 50 bucks in tips in JUST CHANGE in the past few weeks. I went to the bank and deposited all my change, and it came to 51.11! I had some pennies in the jar to begin with, but nothing all that substantial! I was really surprised. That's not including the dollar bills I got for tips, either..which I'm not sure about at all. I usually make at least 3 or 4 dollar bills a day. Last saturday, I had 10 bucks in bills, and like 12 in change. It was a crazy day, but goooood tips. When you think about it, like..let's say I made 90 dollars in tips, total, for the 3-ish weeks I've been there. That's like 30 bucks a week, which doesn't seem like a ton, if I'm working 5 days a week. But these tips that are made aren't just given to me, they're given to everyone working! So that's split between 2 or 3 or 4, and on that saturday, I think there was 5 of us there! I think that seems pretty reasonable, considering how it's split up, for a little tiny coffee place where people aren't required to leave tips. I'm glad I make some extra money there, because I don't get paid as much by the hour as I'd really like. But oh well. At least I'm making some money, right?!
Anyhow. Besides all this working I've been doing, I haven't been doing much else. I'm just getting excited for school. My mom finally did the financial stuff, and it's all in the works. I just got some stuff to sign, and once I send it back (hopefully tomorrow) I should know exactly what kind of financial aid I'll get and what kind of loan I should be taking out. It's all falling into place! Hopefully the rest will go through more smoothly than the rest has been.
Well, I have to work at 9:30 in the morning, so I should probably go to bed soon. Gotta do some cleaning because we're going to the Warner Cabin for the weekend. Should be fun!!
