Slant 6 *Soda Pop-Rip Off*
I'm a sucker for Slant 6, and this deliciously adorable album cover. The girls of Slant 6 have an edgy attitude which shines in their perfect pitch melodies and intelligent lyrics. If you have yet to discover Slant 6, then this is the album to pick up.
The Moto-Litas *For the Greater Good*
I completely forgot the fact that I own this album, which was rather obvious by the fact that it was still in it's platic wrapping. This is an honest record, with good rock n roll structure and riffs. Give these girls a listen!
God Is My Co-Pilot *I Am Not This Body*
Besides the fact that God Is My Co-Pilot, is one of the pioneers of the woman rock movement, the best part of this album is that with 34 tracks, you are able to have a full dose of this band.
Billy Bragg & Wilco *Mermaid Avenue*
British folk star meets Chicago's alt-country icons, with the project of working with Woody Guthrie lyrics. A suprising mixture, but beautifully produced. Jeff Tweedy and Billy Bragg were meant to work together, and this album is a stunning example.
Cake Like *Goodbye So What*
An underrated collection of songs, but an underrated band, in the woman movement of rock. I will admit that this album took a few listens to open up to, but once you get hooked with the quirkiness of Cake Like's efforts, then it's hard to tear away.
Friction *Discography 1991-1994*
I will admit it, I have a soft spot for Bob Nanna, former Braid mastermind, and now Hey Mercedes. But for those who are not in the know of all that is Nanna, before hisquasi emo-icon status, there was Friction.
