Introducing: Gravy Train!!!!
What do you get when you cross keyboards, a "ghetto" sounding drum machine, and rhymes that revolve around sex and booze? Give up? Gravy Train!!!!, local heroes around their SF Bay Area roots, and who just recently released their debut EP, *The Menz*, on S.P.A.M. Records. The four sexy bitches of Gravy Train!!!!, consist of Chunx ("lays down the rapz and gives bitchez slapz") , Drunx ("chugs wine and takes it from behind"), Funx ("sweet beatz and vagina treatz"), and the only boy in the group, Hunx ("hot stylez and drives menz wild"). Gravy Train!!!! has been promoted as "a rap group celebrating the styles of the vastly underappreciated razor tongues of 80's rap bitches" and having a "boner-poppingly pornographic girls-on-top edge".
With such lyrics as "I'm cookin' crack on the stove/ to knock out my frontal lobe" and "Long in the face and short on the wiener/ suck on my muff like a vacuum cleaner", Gravy Train!!!! is making a name for themselves as in your face and getting "down and dirty". The beats are fun, the lyrics are catchy, and overall you'll be dancing around. The vocals are delivered with Kathleen Hanna-like appeal, but with a sharper edge. *The Menz*, is brilliant and already they have a cult following that is expected only to expand due to their tour with Bratmobile, starting in July. You can check out the EP now (and shake that moneymaker!) and look forward to their full-length release, on the KRS label, later this year.
