We put down the kill traps with peanut butter bait.

It ate the peanut butter.  The trap did not spring.

Excuse me. I mean to say that the six traps did not spring when he availed himself of the peanut butter.

He is also avoiding the live trap.

What kind of mouse is this?

yeah, that happened to me too, except it was only one trap, not 6. z's theory was that the mouse was too small & lightweight to spring the trap, but i don't know, they seemed damned sensitive. good luck, i don't really have any solutions as i moved out before the problem was solved.
