Today I felt like rewatching this movie:

"Cannibal Ferox" by Umberto Lenzi.... Plot Synopsis: Anthropologists take a trip to the jungles of Colombia to study native cannibals. Instead, they find a band of drug dealers, using the natives to harvest the cocoa leaf. After awhile, the natives are tired of being tortured slaves, and turn on their masters, as well as the anthropologists, thus filling the screen with gruesome splatter!
So the obvious comparison is "Cannibal Ferox" vs "Cannibal Holocaust". The main difference is that "Cannibal Ferox" has a lot more splatter than "Cannibal Holocaust". Ferox has two castration scenes, a drug dealer getting the top of his head chopped off and brains eaten, and multiple decapitations. Ferox doesn't have a single rape sequence, and has a lot more drug usage than Holocaust. An anthropolgist has written a thesis declaring that cannibalism never has existed and is only a myth. She and her brother travel into the Green Inferno to a village she had read about that reportedly had primitive tribes still eating people. They run into two drug dealers who had overpowered the tribe trying to steal their jewels and cocoa leaf. They find out that the drug dealers are up to no good and the tribe quickly turns on all of them declaring anyone with white skin evil and will have to die. Holocaust I don't think is as entertaining, but is more notorious. I think Cannibal Holocaust is pretty good as well depending on which version you watch. The official Grindhouse Releasing version that came out a couple years ago that looks like this:

is severely cut to 96 minutes as opposed to the older uncut version that floats around on ebay:

that clocks in at 135 total minutes. The whole "Last Road to Hell" sequence is shown in the 135 minutes one, and is cut really short in the 96 minute version. I would probably have to watch them both on the same day to tell you exactly what was cut from which. I watched the longer one three times in a month about a year ago and just recently watched the shorter one for the first time about a month ago. All I know is that there was a lot of gore and carnage missing from the shorter one. If you liked Holocaust at all I would recommend Ferox as your second go to cannibal exploitation. Of all the cannibal ones I've seen (Jungle Holocaust, Eaten Alive, Cannibal Holocaust, Cannibal Ferox, Cannibal, Mountain of the Cannibal God, etc.) it probably tied with Holocaust. I'll review some of the other ones when I get a chance to rewatch them. 4/5.
