And we had awesome food at Crystal Jade. ♥ Er, I was supposed to take loads of pictures of dishes but I couldn't since most of it was served slowly (holycow so many people today) and because it was too tasty I forgot to. ;w; I did take a few, though.
It's been awhile since I've had a meal with my aunt and uncle, so this was extremely fulfilling to me. IMO, the both of them are my second parents. No one can replace them! *ahem* Anyway~
Crystal Jade is a Chinese restaurant, and they serve loads of different styles, depending on which ones you go to. For example, La Mian Xiao Long Bao literally mainly serves lots of ramen (Chinese style ones) and
xiao long bao. It'll be different wherever you go, but the actual one should be the kind where you wrap it up with meat filling in it, and it kind of has soup-sauce in it when you have it.
I had xiao long bao once in Europe (where I had it, I don't remember - it was free time!) and needless to say, it wasn't tasty. xD;; It's dry, and the skin was too thick.
ANYWAY WHY DID I RANT ABOUT XIAO LONG BAO. We went to the branch at Vivo City, the Dining IN branch, and it's fine dining indeed. Right across, you'll get to see the Sentosa Boardwalk which is pretty, but I didn't take pictures since we didn't go out. Anyway, the food was awesome, so just 3 pictures for you to drool at, I guess.
This is just...MMMNNNN ♥ It's just
bee hoon and it's so good. It's with the
thicker vermicelli mainly those from either Korea or Japan. It's so delicious!
And this one is also amazingly good. It's rather salty, and much tastier with its slightly heavy flavor. It's
eggplant (or brinjal, if you will) and it's also my favorite, besides Lady Fingers! (Other favorite is pumpkin hnnnng) The dish itself also has tofu (or well, beancurd) to go with it. 8D
Aaaahhhh, wonderful food post. So lovely. Hungry yet? ;D Okay, it doesn't look as appetizing, but it tastes really good. Also, this is fully vegetarian - without garlic/onion/leek/spring onion/meat. At all, nada! Tastes simply awesome. I think if I go to the UK I might just suffer and die because it's too hard to find proper vegetarian there. I think I might have to visit those expensive Chinese restaurants frequently and request for food. Oh god. *facepalms*
In any case, let's have a bit of a serious discussion. I think
So today, we were out for dinner. There was a family just behind our table (or just behind my uncle and just erm, diagonal of me) and it was a family of three - the dad, mom and the daughter. I have no problems with a complete family, no! I had some...problem with the little girl however.
...okay, she wasn't little. She's probably 6 or 7 years old already. But she wouldn't stop using her phone at all. She wouldn't stop trying to use her mother's phone either.
I dunno about you or table manners, or anything, but I mean, you're having dinner with your family and you use your phone over everything else? You might think I'm making a big deal out of this, but maybe because I've been raised in a more...erm, how should I put this, 'Chinese' family where we are in some senses traditional and conservative and more of "respect elders" kind of family, so I thought that was simply rude. (Unless you had something interesting for the entire family to watch with you, then well, that works!)
She kept using the phone to chat with her friend (while they waited for food, that's fine) but then during the time when they ate, it went on for awhile longer. And then she stopped for awhile, ate a bit, then borrowed her mom's phone, and started playing with the games on it (iPhone) and just switched on the sound loud. (Luckily her mom told her to tone it down a bit - she did but it was still relatively loud...)
...I don't know about you, but I think replying SMSes or receiving a call for a short while during food is fine, but not when you're doing it throughout the entire meal. She barely stopped and just went on with it. I'm relatively surprised her mom didn't try stopping her, or tell her to focus on her food and chat later. Her dad didn't seem to care much either.
I might be being an ass, but sometimes I just feel kids these days are completely losing that respect they need to have even for table manners. What's worse - their parents allow it to happen without saying anything. This isn't called loving a kid, it's just spoiling the kid. Eventually, she may just end up losing all sorts of respect or attention to anything else in the future.
...ah well. I'm being an ass - ignore me. :\
Also, I have an alphabet thingy given by
amelia_seyroon that I will do tomorrow! I'm thinking of doing a 30-day meme (OHTHEHORROR) I saw on
laerkstrein's journal just today, but it feels like a repeat of the "info about myself" meme, though some aspects of it isn't present there either.
Other than that...how have you guys been? :'D It seems LJ (and my f-list) has become quiet once again. I think I would have to start another friends cut soon. :O
