Bow Down Before the One You Serve…

… You’re going to get a really bad ass show! Last night I stood before the god of all Gothlings… and all I have to say is that Trent looked better then I’ve seen him look in years! Yes, the sickly, skinny, pale and sunken Trent Reznor that we all knew and love has transformed himself. Now he’s some kind of hulky, tone (and dare I say it?) tanned badass who had muscles to bulge when he gripped the mic. He even wore a muscle shirt!

Okay, so enough about Trent’s appearance. THE CONCERT WAS FREAKING AMAZING!!!! I’ve not been to such a good show in a long time!

The Dresden Dolls opened up, and they were pretty awesome. They played a cover of War Pigs, and the girl playing the piano was playing the guitar part with one hand and the bass with her other. Overall they were really talented, I just didn’t care much for their music. It had that distinct ‘I’m a little goth girl, aren’t I cute in a dark and angst-filled way?’ sort of feel.

NIN was… well… Amazing. But then again, how can they not be amazing? I didn’t get to hear all the songs that I wanted, but I sure did get to hear a lot of them! Among the songs played that I was looking for, they performed Wish, Hand That Feeds, You Know What You Are?, Love is Not Enough, and they closed with Head Like a Hole. Of course, they played for about 1 hr and 40 mins… Lots of jamming awesomeness!

Getting there was great too. Tommy had no idea that I’d bought tix, or even that NIN was coming to town. When I showed up at the house at 4pm yesterday afternoon, he had the funniest look on his face! He just couldn’t figure out why I’d come home early, or where in the world I wanted to take him. He also was getting all crazy because I wouldn’t tell him anything other then we were going to Stubb’s for BBQ.

Well, we get there, and Tommy sees the giant line.. and is like “What in the world?” and then when we got down to the sidewalk, he said “Uhm.. There sure are a lot of people wearing Nine Inch Nails t-shirts…” I said “I wonder whatever for?”

So we went and sat down inside Stubbs to have dinner. I’d brought my purse with me into the restaurant so that Tommy wouldn’t see his other surprise… an Engagement ring! As we sat down, I got the ring out, and presented it to him.. and asked him to marry me. Of course we were *already* getting married.. but that’s not the point! No one had officially asked anyone else, so now at least that part is out of the way. ;)

Life is good… Tommy’s birthday was a giant bag of fun, and it only looks like it’s going to get better. We’re planning on spending the weekend on the Comal, and then will be in Houston for an MMA fight on June 4th.

Goodness! With all this excitement over Tommy’s birthday… makes me wonder what I’m going to do for mine!
